I actually checked out Toonami recently to see how Attack on Titan was going. Then i heard the voices, cringed, and went back to Crunchyroll. I don't really have a problem with Toonami though. I might check out Space Dandy Season 2 on there this summer.

I don't have much of a problem with the voices in English. Besides Eren Jaegar but that's because it brings back memories of sitting through SAO and being bored

Yeah it was Eren that felt the most off for me. Sorta killed the tension without his screaming and gritty way of saying he's going to kill the Titans.

The main reason why Toonami exists is to introduce people to anime. It's not that hard to understand. The other thing is that the reason that they don't show any school life anime, is that it's an animation action block. It's not all anime, but it centers around action. Their budget isn't that big, and it's only a small team that controls the whole thing.

This gives anime fans a chance to hear dubs, and new fans who don't want to read subtitles a chance to watch. People have asked if it was possible to move up their hours, but due to money, they can't. They show the old hits because, what if, someone had heard that Cowboy Bebop was awesome. Now they have a chance to see it. If not in dub, find it online in sub.

If you don't like it, that's great, it's not for you, get on with life. No one told you you had to stay up and watch it.

Toonami will never be the same unless they bring it back to the daily 6-8 pm block. They can still show the grittier animes on AS Sat nights if they want. But like others have said CN is not committed to good programming period. Their golden age has passed with a few exceptions which get dropped eventually

You can be snobbish if you want, you're obviously are too young to remember how hard it was to get your hands on anime. Yea it's a shell of what it used to be but I'll take anything that introduces people to anime.

No, I have never gave Adult swim a chance. I am out of sync with demographics for these shows. My humor is still stuck in the 60-70's

Thanks

Nothing wrong with that. I was just trying to get you to understand that you shouldn't be offended by any of their stuff BECAUSE they go out of their way to offend everyone. It's pretty much like South Park.

I think Toonami is doing a great job. They're trying their best to get as many new shows possible, but at the end of the day they need ratings. If I were them, I would take off Naruto and skip naruto shippuuden all the way to the naruto vs orochimaru fight.

For the most part though, they've been doing a good job and I condemn them for their efforts. I try to tune in every Saturday to support them because they're the only voice for anime on cable and satellite TV in the west.

Don't have Toonami on TV here, so don't care.
Though their dubs suck. AoT right?

I think my willingness to watch anime on cable changed when I watched the Durarara dub on TV after having already seen the Durarara dub online and saw how much they censored it...

The way I see it is:

After I discovered sites like CR and Funi that gives you basically the widest catalog of anime titles (sub and dub) that you can access at any time you want with no constraint to time and schedule has proven just how outdated programming blocks like this is.

The only way I can see Toonami survive into the future is for them to team up with one of these streaming providers as well as branch out into its own dedicated cable channel. We've already seen how AoT and SAO were able to bring in high ratings. I think if they can get some movies as well as some more shows, they will be able to handle their own channel by fleshing it out.

Well, it is America still not the same as Japan. Some of the things that might have been huge in Japan would flop in America. Or, wouldn't be allowed on regular tv channels. I don't care for graphic shows about killing like Attack on Titan, so I change the channel. I'm guessing from watching the first episode everyone dies in it. Just seems like one of those shows that will kill off someone about every week. Naruto i can watch on here one piece i can watch on here and the rest are so old i prob remember the words they speak in every episode.
