well you have to understand that they have to go with things that are tried and true. You cant just throw a bunch of new shows on there and expect to get viewers just to please people like you. It all comes down to can we get enough viewers with this show to make money. and the only shows you absolutely can get viewers with is the big 3. just enjoy that you can get so much anime on american tv and eventually it will evolve and hopefully become better so you dont have to make forums like this

I quit watching Toonami when they pulled Rurouni Kenshin without even finishing it, so it's been a long time since I have watched them on any regular basis. But yeah, I do get that impression, that Toonami isn't up to par these days compared to the competition. There is that limitation of it being broadcast, and its audience probably not wanting subs. So everything will naturally be delayed by one year. Compared to Toonami's Golden Age, a 1 year delay is VERY small (it took them like 4 years to get Gundam Wing). But that shouldn't really account for such a large portion old animes these days. IMO Toonami has almost always been severely mismanaged. Of course there were limitations back in the day, but now it is on Adult Swim. No need to be concerned with censorship anymore. But they started fiddling with it alot back in 2003, and to me that's when everything began to fall apart. When it started to air once per week, to me that wasn't enough. In fact, it had shown how far it had fallen. It's understandable that they use old content for its revival. The old content is good, readily available, and cheap. It's the age of the internet now. Almost everyone has a high speed connection. Toonami can no longer afford to do lag behind significantly.

People keep saying all that it is good for is introducing anime to newbies. When considering the central place of Toonami back in the day, I consider that a tragedy. Toonami I think could compete reasonably well with streaming sites, even if it is all dubs. There will most certainly be a delay, but there is a large market for it. Unless they begin to invest more money into it, it will wind up just like the old Toonami eventually did - a total joke.

This is silly. Toonami does not hurt the industry in any way. Toonami keeps getting bigger and bigger. Viewer base has only gone up, and their time slot keeps getting expanded. With exclusive simulcasts like Space Dandy, this paves a bright future for the industry on american television.

I haven't watched anything cartoon network since around the time of Squidbillies and Tim & Eric, they started airing stuff that just didn't appeal to me. May check it out to see how things have changed in the intervening years.

I don't think Toonami irritates me.

I think Toonami is great for the industry. They may have a very low budget, but that doesn't mean they'll stop getting their hands on the latest dubs. I found it alarming that Toonami was able to obtain licenses to both Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan.

What really irritates me is when people want Dragon Ball Z or any other classics airing on Toonami again. That was the past, people. You can watch your nostalgic shows on the internet or buy it online.

Toonami airs a lot better stuff than Adult Swim does... Yes, I know Toonami is in Adult Swim, but during the Toonami times, they mostly show anime and none of that crappy Robot Chicken, Squidbillies, family guy etc...

I hate dubbed anything. It's rarely done well and never out does the original language. unless we are talking old karate action flicks, or Godzilla movies, those have there place for a good laugh, but that's a different topic. If Toonami gave me the ability to change back to the original voices and turn on the subtitles i could see myself turning it on from time to time.

Well in my opinion, i find toonami to be a wonderful time segment when it comes to current popular television. Toonami was the thing that introduced me to anime when i was a little lad, so i have fond memories of it. I actually also quite like the fact that they play alot of the old shows, since alot of the old shows are vastly superior to the current animes coming out. Also toonami also only shows dubs as far as i know, so i doubt they would play anything new, since most stuff has not been dubbed unless its extremely popular (not counting fan dubs, because they are normally just trash anyway)

p.s. "Rick and Morty" is outstanding! It's a full on guy's show, back to the future meets a train wreck.
