Okay I know it's something people address a lot but suppose you somehow knew you would cease to exist by the end of the day, what would you regret most about your life? This question is partially inspired by some animes I've watched recently and also some current events in my personal life.

Personally I think I would regret most:
Not living up to my personal convictions;
Not overcoming my personal weaknesses;
Being emotionally distant from the people I care most about and who are closest to me;
And finally spending most of my life being too ashamed of the past and afraid of the future to take advantage of the present.

Of course there's no end to more minor things that I could regret but those are some of the things that when I look back at my life make me wonder "what have I been doing all this time?" At any rate I look forward to everyone's comments as usual. (Oh yeah and sorry for the downer thread.)

Well, I don't live on my own, I don't have a driver's license, and I haven't had a boyfriend/lover.

No regrets. Death will be the final and highest form of freedom, absolute oblivion.

I regret not knowing my identity until just early this year. If I understood who I was earlier, then I wouldn't be fearful of many opportunities that I've missed and I would've had a clearer plan for college and all those fun stuff beyond high school.

I regret not using some great opportunities that I had been offered, and some major mistakes from my past.

Not calling my parents more often
Dying a week before school lets out
Becoming a social hermit
Not working as hard as I know I'm capable of
Dying two weeks before I go to the Bahama ;-;

I live pretty regret free.

I have no regents. The closest thing I can think of is not becoming a US Army Officer, but I can't regent it since I gave it my best shot. I only got rejected from the Army due to very bad eyesight and a thin retinas.

If you had asked me five years ago I would have had a whole laundry list of regrets. At the time i was going nowhere my life had grown stagnant. Even my family and friends had lost hope for me. I would have lamented fiercely over missed opportunities and things I should have/would have done differently. However now I have a wonderful wife two beautiful daughters and a son on the way, and a good job so that I can support my family. I have regained respect once lost from those important to me. So it may seem cliché, but as I look back I realize I wouldn't be where I am right now if it weren't for those "mistakes" if I had done any one of those things differently I wouldn't have what I have now. So if I died at the end of today I wouldn't have any regrets maybe just a wish that I could have seen my children grow up.

The only thing that i regret is the relationship that i have with my mum. I wish that things were different with her, but with the way that she is, i very much doubt that will be possible. Apart from that, and the fact that i am unemployed, i have no regrets. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so i don't regret anything that has happened, including relationships ending badly.

Funny answer - I'd regret coming into work today. Who wants to spend their last day at a desk, staring at a computer screen?

Serious answer -
My first thought would be that I wouldn't have any regrets.. I'd be sad to know I'm going to die and there are certainly things I want to do, but I've also already done a lot of things in life and have come to terms with my shortcomings. I still want to improve in many areas, but I know I've already improved a lot. Maybe I'd regret that I didn't get to the see the process through of becoming the best me I could become. However, I believe I'm the best me I can be right now.

But, I then thought of my wife and a real regret I'd have hit me. I'd regret not having more time with her and seeing our relationship grow over the years. We've put a lot of work into our relationship and it has paid off. But both of us are the products of abusive families, which has brought a considerable number of issues both of us needed to work through to the relationship. We have worked through a lot of it, but it would be great to see where things can go. We have a good relationship and it keeps improving with the work we do, and I want to see where it is 5 or 10 years in the future.
