Kill la Kill is being dubbed in English by Aniplex of America for the upcoming North American release. They put out an official English dub trailer today on YouTube.

Video link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLhE2EhuoZ8

English dub cast list:

ADR Director: Alex Von David

Ryuuko Matoi: Erica Mendez
Senketsu: David Vincent
Satsuki Kiryuuin: Carrie Keranen
Aikurou Mikisugi: Matt Mercer
Mako Mankanshoku: Christine Marie Cabanos
Matarou Mankanshoku: Lindsey Eaton
Barazou Mankanshoku: Michael Sorich
Sukuyo Mankanshoku: Erika Harlacher
Ira Gamagoori: Patrick Seitz
Uzu Sanageyama: Grant George
Nonon Jakuzure: Sarah Ann Williams
Houka Inumuta: Steve Cannon
Shirou Iori: Todd Haberkorn

English version produced by Aniplex of America Inc. in association with Bang! Zoom Entertainment.

I think most of the voices fit pretty well, especially the elite four, but they lack a bit of the emotion to their Japanese counterparts. Nonon sounds almost spot on, though.

Please feel free to share your thoughts on the casting, direction, and performances in the English dub here.

Senketsu sounded awesome like I hoped. From what I hear, I am in the minority haha.

I'll just repost what I said in the discussion thread:

Oh, yeah! I'm pumped! I think they made great picks for Jakuzure, Gamagoori, and Mako. No complaints from me unless Williams can't deliver that shift in tone Jakuzure experiences toward the middle of her big fight scene. As far as those three are concerned, ONWARD!

It's hard to describe what I felt was missing from Satsuki's performance in the dub trailer, but if I had to try then I guess I'd say it feels...I guess "soft" is the word I'd use. Yuzuki felt like she had more "snarl" in her voice during that opening speech, more "grit". And I really liked that grit, that snarl. It really added to Satsuki's dominating presence. On a second listen I think I might just be being too finicky, and that there might be an appropriate amount of snarl and grit after all. What did everyone else think, am I imagining it?

It sounds decent to me, the only voice I don't like so far is Satsuki's it just doesn't sound commanding and powerful enough from the lines in the trailer but who knows it may just need to grow on me.

I think it sounds decent from the trailer. Though I think the trailer was kind of weird the way it was put together. I think all of their lines will sound better in context. Didn't really like Senketsu's voice, but that's because it seems kind of far off from the Japanese counterpart in the fact that it's not as deep. Nonon was spot on, probably the best in terms of casting, and I figure we just have to see more of the other characters to see how they are. Of course, I will always prefer the subbed version simply because I watched it first, and because those voices are the ones I'm most familiar with. So far it looks like it will be a good dub, imo.

Ehh i am half and half on enjoying the dubbed cast. Senketsu could be a deeper voice and i am not sure how well the voice actors can hold up to the amount of yelling the original had.

I guess I am too then. I also like Satsuki's voice. In my mind, I expected Ryouko to sound a little more... how should I say it... rough around the edges? More gruff, hoarse? Not a big deal, since we haven't seen it in full yet, obviously, so only time will tell.

That is to say, I probably won't pick up a copy of either Part 1 or Part 2, because of the inevitable expensive price tag they're going to charge. I'd much rather buy Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn than Kill la Kill, and even then I'd get Garden of Sinners and GitS Arise before Kill la Kill after Unicorn.

Which, Gundam Unicorn is around $300 for it all on Blu-Ray, if going by Rightstuf (which, I'd just find better deals instead). Ah, so many choices.

This is a better cast than what I was expecting. Everything sounds good to me, so I'll support this dub. =3
I have too much respect for most of these voice actors as is. (Especially David Vincent and Christine Marie Cabanos)

its pretty good. satsuki is a little weak, but i think i think that only from the japan version. ryouko sounds great, again tho its different from japan, but i still feel its good.
mako is going to be irritating to me, me thinks.
over all much better than most, im excit3ed!

edit: i wonder how much im biased cus i watch the japanese version first.

Actually, Kill la Kill is not being released in 2 parts, but in 5 volumes. Yes, those singles volumes that only hold 4-5 episodes per disc, and that most companies stopped releasing years ago. The first LE volume is $60, standard Blu-ray is $40, and DVD $30. Multiply those over 5 volumes and you get $300 for the LE volumes, $200 for the standard Blu-ray volumes, and $150 for the DVD volumes.

See the other thread I made about the releases for more details:

Yeah, I know. I realized that a few minutes after I made the post. And, no, I'm not that surprised by it. I still buy single volumes, mind you.

Jason demarco the guy who runs toonami already took a look at kill la kill he says its a great show but its highly unlikely to go on toonami because in order to do that he will have to heavily edit the show to the point that its butchered and he would rather not do that because it wouldnt be the same show so he wants to leave this masterpiece alone and intact
