how many of you started a show that captured your heart only to have it smashed so soon with 12 episodes? i have run into a few and its killing me softly. now the're some series that have a really long run a bit to long. and some that are so amazing that when we make it to 12-26 episodes we are just crying because it was over way to fast. the title is vote to make anime series longer then 12. the truth is, please like this topic and post here when you run into the short clips. lets make those bastards know we need them to be here with us a little longer. Heres an example of one of my Favorite cuts: Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. great. 10 stars. it was nuts but i loved it. their are so many more but im dragging this out to much. Please tell me how you feel. let me understand your pain so we can walk through this together. their is a brighter day over that horizon at the top of the hill.

If you are not used to 12 episode seasons yet, just watch more Anime, you'll grow numb to it soon enough.

Its a budget problem.. would have to be less anime but longer seasons.

It's all down to money. If it's not something extremely popular, then they are only gonna make 12 episodes. Sometimes 24. 12 episodes last a quarter of a year, and every 3 months, whole bunch of animes end and whole bunch of new ones start.

What we CAN do, is buy their goods. Buy DVD/BD, Posters, Figures, etc. That will provide money for the companies that actually make these animes.

You see why Naruto and One Piece gets so many episodes? It's because they are extremely popular that they can make some bs episodes that have nothing to do with the original story and people will still watch that.

But most of the stuff that are 12 or 24 episodes long, it doesn't work that way. If it's not good enough, people won't watch it. Plus, they have limited number of episodes so they have to make their final episode really good ending because 2nd season is not guaranteed.

If you want a second season, buy the goods. I'm pretty sure it's not cheap what Crunchyroll and other streaming sites pay them, but still, it's not nearly enough to make up for the production cost. If they don't sell enough copies of Blu-ray or DVD, they are gonna lose money.

This is off topic, but now I'm going to have Billy Connolly in my head singing opera all evening.

Just because a series is good doesn't mean it would be better if there were more episodes. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There are many shows that work well as just 12 episodes.

Couldn't agree more. Twelve is a nice number; not too few and not too many. There's always a danger that more episodes will dilute the quality and ruin the show for the fans.

I think maybe around 8-10 years ago, I was on your side of the fence. At my age now with other interests and time constraints, I get burned out if shows go on way too long. I don't think I can do a show with with 50 episodes, besides what I have already started a long time ago (damn you Naruto and Bleach anime/manga). If it is around 20-26, I'm fine with that and I am also fine with the 10-12 episodes if it flows nicely from beginning to end.

Depends on the series. If it feels complete, 12 episodes are enough. However, if that is only about half the story due to manga or whatever other reasons, it would be nice to continue till it at least feels finished. XD

I think 24-26 episodes is a really good length for an anime, lot of times I see some really interesting 10-12 episode long anime that start off really strong but then get a terrible rushed ending

I found short seasons a little bit distressing as well when I was starting out, but a couple hundred series later it really doesn't bother me anymore. There's always going to be more amazing anime to see around the corner either via series you missed out on in the past or things that haven't been produced yet.
