Sigh and they are late to stream it too. Not even a schedule and their queue sucks so I'm not even sure when it will stream lol

Okay, so any chance of Crunchyroll streaming this? I've just checked Funimation's site, they have it listed but there's no video there (plus I don't think Funimation do simulcast, at least I don't think they do?)

Funi is simulcasting it.

Ah nuts. I'm not in the US so I won't be able to get it...at least I would be saying that if I hadn't discovered Kodi's Funimation plugin which apparently lets me watch their shows (just tested it on a Fairy Tail episode, no bothers whatsoever). Out of sheer curiosity, can anyone tell me how that works? I don't have a proxy or VPN on this particular machine.

They've licensed series for simulcasting and then not actually simulcast them for weeks before. It's pretty irritating honestly.

Funimation was a bit late with some shows at the start of Winter too.
Hopefully all of their new shows will be subbed by tommorow and will be aired on time starting next week.

Episode 1

Welp, it's out on other sites now.

Anyways, the episode was alright. I'm going to have to get used to the character designs in particular Kyon. At least they got his voice right. And we also get the inevitable encounter with Haruhi although she didn't say anything during her encounter with Nagato. For most parts, this is more like a humorous spinoff, NOT Haruhi 3 or anything like that. Nagato Yuki is portrayed with much more emotions (hell, she even has a thing for Kyon).

Fun stuff overall though.

Watched it just before I wanted to go to bed, so I might as well make a post before finally hitting the sack. And yeah, that wasn't a good way to close off the day.

Presentationwise it's pretty poor, even when not being compared to KyotoAni. The characters have lost all of their original appeal, especially Kyon, and it all just looks like middle of the road not very good Moe. I don't think that this would be very good as a simple slice of life comedy, but as a spin-off to the masterpiece that is the disappearance movie, I am having a hard time not calling this insulting.

I won't drop this after episode one, I am not foolish enough to do so, but it certainly hasn't established itself as a favourite of mine, that is for sure. This needs to pick up the slack really fast. Maybe this will improve once Haruhi gets introduced, I certainly hope so.

Not bad but that art style I'll have to get used to, liked Kyoani style better.

Just gonna warn people if you are coming into this hoping for a Haruhi level experience you aren't going to get one, the manga is pretty much all slice of life and rom-com besides from a few parts that tie in the original series.

That's a shame. I'm probably gonna drop this show then, the character chemistries didn't feel right at all and if it's gonna carry on that way I don't really wanna continue watching.

I'd at least give it a few more episodes as it does get a bit better when Haruhi comes in to the mix. The story is going to focus a lot on Nagato's feelings towards Kyon and it gets super moe at some points. It is funny to watch Haruhi react towards Nagato's feelings for Kyon, it gives you a better sense of how she actually felt about Kyon during the main series.

For some reason, I feel like the characters look older, yet younger in a way. I'm going to watch it after Haruhi Suzumiya and the movies, and see if I like the series.
