July 11th-Competition Changes are listed below. I am now accepting all international entries! Happy Drawing!

New Details

Update Summer Drawing Competition

I wanted to let everyone know that I have made some pretty cool changes to the anime drawing competition. I have detailed these changes below and if you would like any more details please don't hesitate to contact me further.

First- The Anime drawing competition will now end at the end of summer rather then July 15th to allow people to make submissions on time and have less stress leading up to the end of the competition.

Second- All international entries are accepted and I encourage all of you to participate.

Third- I will widen the prize pool and give away more prizes then were originally listed. (More chances to win with more winners selected)

A special prize: I am looking for a design related to summer that I can use as a logo for my group as well as all things related to Anime-News-Daily. If you would like to place your entry for that I will give you a special prize if you win and I select your drawing for use. This prize will be a surprise, but even if you don't win the main prizes you are still eligible to win this one.

How to enter

First- Create a diviantart profile

Second- Go to the group page at http://animeisawesome247.deviantart.com/ and request to join the group. I will approve your request quickly so that you can begin drawing as soon as possible.

Third-Once you have finished drawing you will need to submit your drawing along with step by step process details. This is to ensure that the drawing is your own and is not a copy or a trace. More details can be found within the group in a journal message.

Forth- Title your drawing "AnimeNewsDaily Summer Drawing Competition" or something to that effect so I know that it is for the competition.

Good luck everyone and have fun!

I wanted to let you all know that I have decided to host an anime drawing contest with the theme of summer. What better way to start off your summer then with a drawing contest where you can win a ton of great prizes? It's really simple to enter and you have a little over a month to create your very best work and submit it for possible selection as a winner. The top three entries will be selected and first second and third prize will be given out accordingly. At this time I can only offer prizes by mail to people inside the United States. Don't worry, I plan on having a special competition down the road that also includes international entries as well.

1st Prize
-Wacom Intuos Manga Pen and Touch Small drawing tablet
- Manga Studio 5

2nd Prize
-$20.00 Amazon gift card
-Strathmore 400 Series Hard Bound Sketch Book

If you would like to enter the contest all you have to do is post on the contest bulletin. Once the contest begins you will have a month and a half to finish and submit your artwork to the appropriate folder. Be sure to title your work along with the words AnimeNewsDaily Summer Drawing Contest. This way I know your submission is for the contest. Full details on the contest as well as rules and guidelines can be found here: http://animeisawesome247.deviantart.com/journal/Summer-Anime-Drawing-Competition-457836667. Be sure to follow the group as I will be hosting many competitions in the months to come. Good luck everyone!

Indeed, challenge accepted

I wonder though, can you make a screencap of all your layers as well instead of a picture of a pencil drawing? Because I can't draw on paper anymore. Got too used to my Cintiq

Aw, US only, plus the top prize is exactly what I use to draw!

Either way, I'll still try and put something together, will depend on time and other stuff going on...

First, I want to thank everyone for their interest in the contest. Second, while I can't offer physical prizes at this time for contestants outside the United States, I will be able to offer a cash prize as a reward. Once I get things figured out international wise I will be able to ship prizes internationally as well. I am hoping to have everything squared away with that during the next competition.

To answer your question about screen capping, yes this is acceptable as a step by step proof concept, but I will still need a rough sketch of your work. This is to help verify that you indeed came up with the character and as a stage one proof of concept.

Thanks for all your support and good luck!

Awesome to hear that solution Then I'll participate anyway.

For the proof, I'll upload the sketches first, and after that I'll upload pics of new added steps. So you get something like this: Sketch - Detailed Sketch - Colour Sketch - Colour - Basic Shading - Shading - Final. I hope that this is an acceptable way to show the progress?!

Yep that will work. If you would like you can simply upload your steps on deviantart and link me to that page. The easiest way to post it would be to simply make a blank document in gimp or your drawing program and then size it to fit each step. Then just import an image of each step and place them side by side on the new document you created. That way when you save it it's just an image of each one of your steps, that way you don't have to upload each step as a separate post. I hope that made sense. I'll post an example later on as well as further contest details.
