Seriously...just, he was in custody for 5 damn years; how come I never heard of this story until today, when he was just released a few days ago? It sounds exactly like the Israeli Gilad Shalit story and that was all over American and international press for years. Does America not care about its soldiers at all?

What do you all make of this?

I knew about it when it first came out that he was captured. I signed a few petitions over the years to get the government to look into it more. I know he will need a lot of therapy and will need time to recoup. I just hope he wasn't brainwashed and goes on a rampage.

You've been watching too much Homeland...

But seriously you're right, I could see that happening and from what I've read online the guy isn't particularly smart (from several sources an anecdote is given that he joined the military because "it sounds like the peace corps with guns"), plus he was there and affected by his captors for so long that he started losing his english and when his dad greeted him next to Obama in a broadcast, the guy actually greeted him in Arabic and Pashto because of a language barrier.

Sigh...

Sad thing is, I've never seen Homeland.

Sigh myself....

Most soldiers are considered expendable, after all.

All american propaganda aside, Bowe Bergdahl walked off of the outpost on his own and got many of his squadmates killed during the subsequent search. Im glad hes back but he is not a hero, and should be charged with desertion. If you dont believe me read the wikileaks reports.
