Wolf squinted as a red-orange blanket began to fill the sky. It was sunrise but the view before him wasn't pretty enough to enjoy, Wolf needed to put an end to this unsettling battleground. "Anria," Wolf's tone lightened to not frighten the little girl.

"I'm going with you," she interrupted Wolf's thought. She whispered something into Wolf's ear causing his eyes to widen. Wolf wondered why a little girl would have been out that deep into the forest in the first place, now he has an idea.

"Mhm," Wolf nodded as Anria let him in on what she was thinking. "You're smarter than you look, but how about.." Wolf went over a quick strategy with Anria as he fended off Crowe's lackeys. The lackeys lowered in numbers and weren't skilled enough to keep Wolf's attention. "Let's do this." Wolf let Anria know he was going in.

Anria's grip tightened drastically as the giant disappeared from the chaos. With both hands on his weapon, one on the hilt, the other on the sheath, Wolf weaved through the frightened foot soldiers and closed the gap between Crowe and himself. From the corner of his eye, Wolf saw a shiny object whip through the air, its target was Crowe. Unsure if the weapon hit or not, Wolf was able to close the distance and place himself in between Crowe and the two injured men.

Anria got off and pulled something out of her pouch. She rushed towards the more injured man first. "Don't move," swiftly and smoothly, she began her first aid.

"How about I even these odds," Wolf front appeared brave, but he's been fighting nonstop for a long time now. He's about to collapse. With the last of his energy, he performed his defensive stance and had his eyes on everyone on his side.

"ALRIGHT! There's nothing to worry about," Wolf shouted to his newly formed party "All of you, keep your eyes forward. Because you have me guarding your backs."

What a miserable child... Oi, get up. You could die here. An old ghost of Lux's memories returned to her. She was slipping through consciousness. Finally hearing the sound of clanking boots she was snapped back into reality. Pain engulfed her entire body, and it felt as if she were glued to the ground. Get up, the old familiar voice repeated in her head. ...You could die here.

Lux slowly got up, and held her head. Seeing the scene fold out upon her, she saw a new face on the battle field. She thought for sure she was going to die there. She was slightly moved by these man's words, thinking them a miracle given her circumstances. She suddenly regained strength and adrenaline, though the pain from her wounds still agitated her. On one knee, she stood up, and held out her sword with both hands. She fixed her eyes on Crowe, and a small smile spread across her face. Newly found confidence, she kicked off the ground running towards Crowe. She swung her sword up above her head, while bending her knees and leaping forward. So many vulnerable points were exposed now on Lux, but she squeezed her eye shut, awaiting for a collision with her sword and Crowe.

A crimson red that faded to black was the last thing Zeist saw before being projected away from the skilled swordsman. This.. is REAL battle. The battles back home were nothing like this; they felt more organized, constructed, and strangely, they felt staged. This battle contained bloodlust and death. The death around him was so real. The bodies that polluted the streets were bound to never get up again.

The reality hit Zeist but he was quick to notice. After taking a hard, deep breath, he looked back up at the Crimson psycho and before Zeist could get up, a flurry of red and black zoomed before him.

"How about I even these odds." A massive character, surprisingly slightly bigger than Zeist himself, appeared before the group. Zeist was a being person, his height and broadness allowed him to wield such a devastating weapon, but the new challenger's weapon was smaller and thinner. Someone of his size should try using an even bigger weapon.

A small person hopped off the back of the giant. What in the world are you bringing a little girl into this battle for?! At this point, Zeist didn't know whether this guy was absolutely insane out of his mind, or so trained in combat that he's about to protect this little girl from this crimson madman. There was a different vibe about this guy, but Zeist didn't have the time to think about that.

With a new view on the battle, he recalculated. "ALRIGHT! There's nothing to worry about," the man shouted. "All of you, keep your eyes forward. Because you have me guarding your backs." Zeist felt his presence and placed his hands on his weapon once more. This was it. We needed to end this once and for all.

---Attack Attempt---

Zeist zoomed in behind the Crimson Paladin. This time, he was as silent as possible, the giant and the swift woman were the Crimson Paladin's focus right now; he needed to use that to his advantage. The clanking of his armor alerted the Crimson Paladin ages ago, but Zeist made sure to stay focused. Keeping his distance, Zeist stopped in his tracks and swung his massive blade making sure only the tip hit. Right now, he just needed to land as many safe hits as possible. Did it hit?

What happened next scared Zander to death. The Crimson Paladin set his eyes straight on Zander and started to move towards him. His cold eyes glowing with killing intent. As he started to walk towards Zander, he suddenly got interrupted by another attacker. Zander let out a sigh of releif. He was not ready, or in shape, to fight the Crimson Paladin head on. The armored man with a huge sword swung it around in complex maneuvers, but the Crimson Paladin wasn't impressed, and landed a punch square into the mans face. "Ouch!" thought Zander as he flinched.

Before the Crimson Paladin got to restart his trail towards Zander, a fairly small woman engaged him, and she managed to hit the Crimson Paladin in the abdomen, and this time Zander noticed a flinch from the Crimson Paladin. "He is hurt!" Zander thought immediately. he had to take this chance, while the Crimson Paladin was distracted with the woman. He had to strike now!

As he finished that tought a huge figure appeared on the battlefield. A little girl hopped off from his back and after exchanging some words with the huge guy, she ran over to Zander and as she whispered "Don't move" she applied some salvae and bandages to his abdomen, releiving him of some pain and somehow he was able to move a little bit easier.

"Thanks!" Zander said, as he started to move into position to get off a few shots at enemy. "That girl over there, engaging the paladin, I saw blood coming from her shoulder, she is more valuable than me, help her when possible!" He said calmly to the little girl. He didn't notice what happened next, because at that moment the Huge guy yelled "ALRIGHT! There's nothing to worry about, All of you, keep your eyes forward. Because you have me guarding your backs."

Something happened on the battlefield right there and then, and Zander felt more calm than he had in quite a while. The huge guy had an really safe aura to him, and Zander knew immediately that he was more than capable to back up those words of his.

-- Attack attempt --
Zander drew an arrow and readied it as the guy with the huge sword engaged The Crimson Paladin again, though this time it seemed he fought with a bit more caution. Zander steadied his aim and held his breath, while waiting for the perfect opportunity to release the arrow. The moment never came but while fighting the armored guy with the huge sword, he saw it. The open wound on the Crimson Paladin's abdomen. "I have to hit!" Zander thought, as he let the arrow fly.

He immediately redied another arrow which he kept ready, as he couldn't release it because of the others engaging the Crimson Paladin. Hitting them instead would mean the end of them all.

The polished crimson armour was slick with blood and sweat, slowly seeping into the dents and scratches across its surface. Whether it was his own or that of his attackers, Avan Crowe did not know. Nor did he care. His only focus was the small band of warriors before him, and how he would wipe them from the earth. Losing himself in his bloodlust, Crowe turned his attention to one of the wounded soldiers and began to advance, sword raised and ready to strike.

Before he could deliver a blow to the wounded soldier, Crowe felt something strike his back. The force was immediately followed by a flare of pain, and Crowe's anger flared with it. Gritting his teeth, Crowe turned and lashed out blindly with his sword. The swing was wide and uncontrolled, but Crowe managed to catch the mans forearm with the tip of his sword. He was quietly pleased as a small ribbon of fresh blood trickled down his sword. Crowe slashed at the man again and again, each one more savage and deadly than the last. Struggling to block the attacks with his oversized sword, the man stumbled backwards and clumsily tripped over a raised cobblestone. Crowe's eyes narrowed beneath his helmet as he watched the man trip, and readied himself to deliver a finishing blow. He raised his sword above his head, and let out a savage yell as he brought it down on the fallen enemy before him.

"Gruaa-.." Crowe's cry faded little more than a whisper as his breath suddenly left his lungs. His arms dropped to the sides, sending his sword clattering across the stone street. Through his thick armour, Crowe could feel someone pressed against his side, the subtle warmth of another body against his. Another warm sensation trickled down his side and over his hip as blood seeped into his armour. Through blurry eyes, Crowe looked to find the tip of a sword protruding from the side of his chest. Holding the other end of the sword was a very beaten and bloodied girl.
"So.. close.." he thought, looking down on the man sprawled on the floor before him. "I'm so.. close!..
Fuelled by nothing more than anger and willpower, Crowe wrenched himself free of the sword buried in his chest and shakily stumbled forward, drawing a small knife from his hip. Not even the threat of death would stop him from achieving his goal. Spots obscured Crowe's vision, and his knee buckled as he stepped forward. Falling to his knees, Crowe stretched out his hand in a futile attempt to reach his target.
As if the universe itself was working against him, a flash filled Crowe's vision, and a metallic scrape sounded as a knife buried itself in his forearm. His anger turned to a sense of futility as he realised that it was all over. Broken, bleeding, and utterly defeated, Crowe for the first time felt a strange new feeling. His stomach turned, and his iron will faltered. His head screamed at him, telling him to flee, but his legs would not obey. He just sat there, afraid.

Never before had he been defeated by such a small force. Avan Crowe, the Crimson Paladin. Harbinger of death and enforcer of the empires laws. "Such a.. disappointing.. ending..."

Crowe's world finally went black, as an arrow pierced his helmet with a wet thud. His limp body slumped to the floor and his armour scraped against the cobblestones, lifeless. It was over.

It was over. Wolf fixed the strap of his sheath and properly secured his weapon onto his back. "Anria, let's g-"

"Wait," a voice of power called out to him. In the voice, Wolf felt the weakness and pain, peaking his curiousity, he searched for the source. "Please, I must reward you all for your hard work." A powerful cough followed by the release of blood escaped the powerful figure's mouth.

"Commander Ellot!" a female soldier called out to him. "Don't overexert yourself."
"Please- meet me- at the military- HQ- tomorrow morning." His sentence was broken up in between his efforts to catch his breath. The female soldier made attempts at aiding the commander in some first aid recovery. Ellot looked at all of the fighters that were involved in the fight, he even looked in shadows of the alleyway remembering the flying knife from earlier.

"I suppose I could drop by," Wolf wasn't too interested in working for the military, but he felt no reason to not stop by. As he walked away, a tiny and fragile hand slipped into his own. As Wolf and Anria faded from the gruesome aftermath of a battlefield, the very beginning of a very long adventure was about to unfold. Many, many battles lay ahead of this ragtag group. With the stars aligning the way they are, this band of "heroes" have a lot coming their way. At this rate, they'll be caught right in the middle of The Armies of Yuell.
