Stella Women's Academy, High School Division Class C3. At first glance, it looks like another generic cute girls doing cute things series. It's not. Seeing Yura's character change drastically each episode was definitely a unique experience. It was a series that really surprised me when it was airing. I just wish they had explored some of the concepts more.

Love Lab

At first look it seems like Yuri / Slice of Life.

It is in fact though a hetero-sexual shoujo romcom.

I almost passed off No Game No Life as an ecchi, otaku pandering show, almost. It's actually really well done! The animation is beautiful, the main characters are really likeable, and the games they play are out of this world! (see episode 6 to understand pun)

I agree its great lol but it still is an ecchi, otaku pandering show. It just also happens to be awesome.

Agreed! I like the way you think, even if you are a Steph.

To be honest, a lot of the anime I end up liking are anime I thought would be totally different. Sakurasou, SNAFU, NGNL, Angel Beats to name a few are like that. Basically, if you don't surprise me in a couple of the episodes, you probably aren't going to be looked at as highly.

I also learned that some other people have infinitely more expendable income than I do, but that says more about me than others. >>;

For me, the big shock was watching the original Golion after seeing it as Voltron. They had to cut a lot to make that show acceptable for U.S. kids.

No one was expecting it to be that brutal though...

Mohou Shoujo Madoka Magica is probably one of the most misjudged because of the first two episodes.

I also think Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko is misjudged by people because of the first word in the name. thats why i just refer to it as Henneko

Higurashi When They Cry can be misjudged if you dont pick up on the dark aura from the opening it has

School Days, if you watch it without hearing about it from someone else, 99% chance it will be misjudged or misleading i might be confusing the two on this one
