I'm just curious which show/ shows have been your most pleasant/ best surprise of the spring 2014 season so far.

For me it's been Nanana's Buried Treasure. I didn't really have an expectations or know what to think about it before the season started and now it's one of my favorites of the season. A-1 did an awesome job with it imo.

I agree with Nanana's Buried Treasure! I was expecting generic characters with no personality, ecchi, and a boring storyline. Glad I'm wrong.

Hiyakuu!! This series has got me in love with sports anime. I thought of just trying out this series when it came out this Spring, because the animation and PV videos looked interesting, little did I know I was going to love it. I love the pacing they are taking this series. It is very slow and not to fast and they are introducing and getting the team together at a good pace.

The characters development is awesome! I love the back stories on some of the characters and why they love volleyball. The bromance is strong in this series. I'm not a fan of volleyball, but this series makes me get pumped for it. I actually understand the sport now and can follow through the series.

The matches are very interesting, because they are not too long or drag on. The teamwork and the effort the characters put in their games in amazing. I'm looking forward to more episodes from this series and hope for more to come. I just can't wait for a big game with all the characters kicking ass! GREAT SERIES ALL AROUND. Go check it out if you guys haven't watched it. It is a sport anime and if you do not like sport anime... take a stab at it at least and see if it interest you.

I honestly didn't expect No Game No Life to be this good.
Nanana's Buried Treasure has been quite good too.
The one that I never expected to be good was One Week Friends, it's fantastic.
Selector Infected WIXOSS isn't the best series this season, but it's exceeded my expectations by its extreme darkness.

If you told me I'll love NGNL as much as I do before it aired, I'd think you crazy.

Not me, but my friend, already was reading the LN when they came out. He already pre-ordered the blu-ray for NGNL. He also pre-ordered Shiro's figure that was announced few days ago

Ping Pong the Animation. Not only the biggest surprise but probably the most underrated.

Hmm, most of this season has definately been a surprise pretty much every show i am watching I was either meh towards or low expections but I have ended up enjoying everyone of the 13 I picked up, as for most suprise... I'd have to say If her Flag breaks, especially after the bad first EP that just oozed generic but after that ep it became much funnier and more enjoyable and I like it quite a bit.

I second this. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I have. Definitely underrated.

The limited edition from Japan? Plus a special poster that comes with it if you buy it in Akihabara. We use a service where we choose a certain store in Akiba and they go there and buy it and ship it to us

I've been really enjoying Kawai Complex. It's not my favorite show of the season but I've been enjoying it more and more each week. Same with Soul Eater NOT, being a Soul Eater fan I didn't have a clue what to expect but I look forward to Tuesday's in part because of Soul Eater NOT. I agree with Nanana's Buried treasure though for sure too.

Three shows stand out that exceed expectations.

No Game, No Life: Coming in, I was expecting it to be a ripoff of Problem Children, but even so this show definitely has been well-constructed. The one thing that this show does well is the info dumping. There is lots of it, but this show handles it as perfectly as possible by bringing up the information only when it becomes relevant and not having too much of it that will have me bored.

Selector Infected Wixoss: The beginning was a mess that is typical of shows trying to market their card game, but then the series begins focusing on how screwed up the game is and the traumatizing effects of being a selector. Those are what I was hoping to see out of this show, and once it gets to the point this show delivers.

If Her Flag Breaks: It's a fun harem where the MC is a solid character who takes matters into his own hands. But the reason I am really liking this show are definitely the characters as this is a very likable bunch of girls. And then there is the story of Souta trying to break his death flag, which adds a dimension of depth. It's still has major issues, but they are issues that do not ruin my enjoyment.

Pretty much, this season is lacking in top-end shows with only One Week Friends and Haikyuu being such shows while there is everything else. But even so, it is filled with enjoyable shows and ones that took awhile to warm up to.
