Mine would probably be Nanana's Buried Treasure and No Game No Life. I thought Nanana looked really boring and the first episode didn't grab me much either but the series really picked up from there with a bunch of great characters especially the MC, who went from the most bland to by far the most mysterious and sketchy character in the show.

No Game No Life looked interesting from the get go and it only got better from there quickly turning into my favorite of the season. It has really quick snappy pacing and overall great comedic timing. Also the show is a joy to watch at, I just love the look of the whole show.

Chaika gave the impression of a slow start for some reason.

The biggest surprise for me is Brynhildr in the Darkness. It really stands out to be different than others, and it gives off a very creepy vibe, in a way that everything feels so "wrong" to me.

The other one is The World is Still Beautiful. The first episode wasn't great for me, but it got more and more fun as the story and characters progress. Hope it will have a decent ending.

One Week Friend had the most anticipation from me this season, and it did well. I guess One Week Friend really succeeded in fulfilling my expectations.

The only show that is a letdown to me is Black Bullet. It has a good premise to begin with, but the focus of the story ruins it.

I absolutely don't like Mahouka Koukousei, it is plain boring and annoying for me

What do you think of Ping Pong's animation? Everyone has been saying that it is so good, but the art looks pretty ugly to me.

For me, The Comic Artist and His Assistants has been an absolute stellar surprise!
I watched a bit of the first episode weeks ago and thought it was really terrible. But I came back to it a few days ago and realised that it is hilarious, definitely the stand out comedy series for this season

Nanana and If her Flag Breaks

If Her Flag Breaks really threw me through a loop as the plot progressed. It definitely isn't the usual romcom harem type, to me it basically pulled a Madoka. (Save the massive amounts of feels and soul crushing depression. Though there were some parts of If her flag breaks that are pretty dark imo.)

The only true surprise for me this season was Baby Steps. Every episode so far has seemed to last 5 minutes or so. How does it go by so fast?

Selector Infected WIXOSS definitely surprised me. I went into it thinking "oh this will just be another one of those card game amines. I will probably drop it." but it has a surprisingly dark aspect to it.

No Game, No Life: This one is probably a different reason for me than most, the premise and tags to the show don't bother me and infact are reasons I would probably of liked it, at first I thought it was going to be the art that would make me hate it. But I just have loved it since episode 1.

Kawai Complex: Rom-Coms are always out there, and most are generic as hell, while I like most of them there are few that I actually love. Kawai Complex is pushing all the right notes right now to let me love it.

One Week Friends: THE FEELS MAN!!! THE FEEEEEEELSSSS!!!!

Soul Eater NOT: Having not really cared for Soul Eater, I wasn't expecting to like this despite knowing it was just a spinoff, I have been pleasantly surprised so far.

If Her Flag Breaks: I read some of the manga and thought this wouldn't do well as an adaptation when I heard the news about it, but it has done a pretty fantastic job, and like Kawai Complex is hitting all the right notes for me in the Rom-com section to allow me to love it.

Nanana's Buried Treasure: I still can't figure out who is on who's side here. I love it because of that.

I wish I could watch Ping Pong, but it isn't available in Canada and my computer is derping right now so I can't watch anything on the Funimation website either.

If I had a surprise for this season, it would be Chaika. The fight scenes are surprisingly well choregraphed.

I didn't think anything of these going into the season and really just added them either based on others comments or enough times glancing over them to think they possible could be decent but not expecting anything, yet they delivered.

Black Bullet - I didn't look into this one enough before hand and only added it because "Black Bullet" how bad could it be...well it's been great so far.

Kawai Complex - I thought this was going to be completely stupid....and it is....but in all the right ways. Seriously one of the best all around shows of the season.

Knights of Sidonia - Not a huge Mech/Sci-Fi fan (outside of the original Gundam's) and I only added it again just because really and now I eagerly wait each week to see what happens....plus that op and ed are amazingly fitting.

M3 - Again not a big Mech/Sci-Fi fan (or maybe I am and I am in denial) but this show has been pretty dark and crazy and yet exciting enough where I want to know what is going on...

Nanana's Buried Treasure - This is easily one of the best shows of the season as well.

One Week Friends - This show looked and sounded like it was going to be completely boring with just a little feels but really it has been amazing with some feels pretty much every episode and great characters.

Selector Infected WIXOSS - Card game...but wait there's a catch. Didn't want it to just be another card game show which it isn't yet I do wish they would give us a little more insight into the game itself.

Soul Eater NOT - Not a big Soul Eater fan but it has a nice mix a things going for it.

The World Is Still Beautiful - Nothing made me want to watch this but for some reason I did and the story has been actually pretty good so far.

Not counting stuff like No Game No Life not because it isnt amazingly awesome and possible the best show of the season but really it sounded and looked amazing from the start. Brynhildr in the Darkness as well.

May seem like quite a few surprises but I did start the season at 30 shows.
