No Game No Life has ended up being probably my favorite series this season and I didn't expect that at all. Having had no knowledge of the source material (as usual) my expectation based on the artstyle, the summary and the going ons in the first couple episodes wasn't too high. It seemed enjoyable enough if not a bit shallow at first but I'm absolutely enthralled by it now.

Nanana's Buried Treasure is up there too for similar reasons to NGNL I think.

There's other stuff I've liked a lot this season but nothing else that really blew my expectations out of the water.

Nobody is gonna mention DAIMIDALER: PRINCE V.S. PENGUIN EMPIRE? It is one of the best.

Greatest surprises in my spring 2014 list would be:

M3: My friends told me (cuz I started when episode 3 came out) that it reminded them a little bit of Attack on Titan. I can say that I do see some similarities, but I think this show definitely has its own story. I thought M3 would be a terrible show, considering I'm not totally into mecha, and it in the first few episodes I really hated all the characters (especially the blonde one). I will honestly admit that I'm wrong. M3 is a really nice show, and even the blonde girl who I originally hated, turned to be a really misunderstood character whom I liked in the end.

Chaika the Coffin Princess: I actually did not know what I was expecting of this show. When I first read the synopsis of it, it really didn't explain what was going on, so I gave myself a 3 episode trial. Turns out I went way past 3 episodes and WOW. This show is awesome. Even now I'm still loling at the harem being developed here. I LOVE Chaika! She's so adorable.

Last but not least....

NO GAME NO LIFE: I never watched this until episode 6 was out. Then my friend said that it was so amazing that I would not be doing myself a favor if I didn't see it. So I watched it. DAMNNNN this show is good. I mean, apart from my own failure to understand their somewhat complicated strategic explanations, I actually think No Game No Life is spectacular. I love how Sora and Shiro and freaking smart. Even Steph. Steph is funny, and I love how she smashes her head on concrete objects for "thinking about Sora."

I'm going to go with Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou:

I'm just going to go ahead and admit that I've put on hold 8 different series so far this season (I'm not sure why since I had been liking them). So I might not be the most reliable at this topic so bear with me.

So this was one of the ones that I still watch regularly and I completely wasn't expecting it to be this good (I picked it up thinking that it seemed like an interesting enough show to pass the time). I had some expectations/hopes from One Week Friends and No Game No Life, but this anime just really out did itself for me. Each episode just keeps building off the previous and keeps getting more and more fun to watch. It's hard to say if it is my favorite from the season so far, but it is definitely in contention.

Plus Ric-chan's embarrassment during some of these latest episodes has just been amazing to watch.

No love for Is The Order A Rabbit? The majority of the anime listed here I already had decent expectations for. I pretty much had zero expectations for "Is The Order A Rabbit?," but it surprisingly caught my eye and impressed me.

I expected to like Hitsugi no Chaika.

I did not expect to LOVE it the way that I do.

No Game No Life came out of nowhere for me, to become one of my favourite shows ever.

Black Bullet is the same, I enjoy it very much.

Nanana's Buried Treasure pretty much the same, loving it.

Is The Order A Rabbit? is great fun.

This Spring Season has been very awesome a lot of great series to choose from(I'm currently watching 16+ series already)

Ping Pong the Animation and No Game No Life really suprised me the most. I've been reading the Haikyuu manga before the anime series so I expected it to be received well.

No Game No Life would for sure have to be my #1.

The next or close second but I was expecting it to be pretty good is Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou.
