Hey everyone! New to crunchyroll. So i'm using to the ps4 app and notice the video quality is very poor, especially compared to other video services. Is there something I need to know or do to improve this or does it just stream at low resolutions? I do have premium is that makes a difference. Thanks!

I do not have a ps4 or the app, but it could be one of many things. First, what resolution are you setting the video? There are 4 settings for each specific video (which I assume stay the same in the app), SD, 480P, 720P, and 1080P. Probably you have set the video to a "low setting". It could also be that you are not using an HDMI cable to hook the ps4 to the tv. It could also be that your tv does not have the capacity to play high definition video. Lastly, it could be the app itself does not play high def video.

The app works in high definition for me. I've got what bathroom listed above (HDMI cord and a tv with hd capabilities). You should also check if your internet speed is fast enough for HD videos cause I think the app sets it automatically (unless I missed the manual quality switch).

Bathroom, I have it set to 720 for resolution bc that is what my tv is. Everything else is not an option. All other apps play HD with no issue, just crunchyroll. I was under the assumption that premium got you HD quality.

The videos from crunchyroll are indeed HD quality. Set the video to HD quality first. That is your problem. The guy right above you said his videos play in HD, so the problem lies with you. If you still have problems, go to any video, and click the "video playback problems" button, which opens up a ticket with a mod.

But be sure to first try to set the specific video you are trying to watch to a higher resolution. (although it is unnecessary, because 480P is enough for the human eye, kinda like 30 fps is enough, but well, I don't wanna get into this).

Another easy way to get help with something quick is to "report to the moderator" your own post, I suppose.

I've moved this to the Support section of the forums--specifically the Sony Gaming Platforms so you might want to browse recent threads there to see if there's an answer.

However, you may also contact Customer Support directly using the Contact Us link at the bottom of each web page.

The PS3 and PS4 apps automatically determine the maximum video bitrate and resolution automatically, and do not follow the website preferences. (Confirmation of this came up in response to some people's request to be able to set a lower resolution for the PS3). The PS3 app supports a maximum of 720p (and I assume this limitation was retained for the PS4 app, as it is apparently based on the same code).

In fact, most (if not all) of the device apps automatically determine quality, and try for the best given the bandwidth.
