Otaku power level...

mine is very minimal but i post like i know what i'm talking about in the anime section anyway

Yeah, when I write reviews and talk about anime I do the same as you whilst conveniently omitting the fact that I've only been watching it regularly since I registered here last year

- No I don't, but I like threads which encourage discussion the most.

- I'm not a prick, no, if that's what you're asking.

- That sounds like a shite debate. If the OP has zero interest in hearing what other people have to say and just wants to repeat his argument at them again and again without being able to admit any falsehoods on his own side, it's more of a soapbox than a discussion.

However, if it's a thread in which someone introduces a subject, introduces their own opinion on it, invites people to debate with them over it and does so without being a cunt, that can very often be a good thread.

I originally joined the CR forums after two years of being nothing more than a paying subscriber, and that was motivated by the fact that the forums that I have been a longtime member of are suddenly losing people and pretty much is on the verge of becoming a ghost town. The community there was a pretty tight-knit group, but there just wasn't a lot of users to discuss stuff, so that's why I made the decision to become a regular poster here. So with that, I use my experience from those forums to explain how things are going here on the CR forums.

Best:
Lots of users and topics. There are quite a lot of things to talk about, both in anime and outside. Since this is where people are watching the majority their anime (and might I say that in a way to support everybody who spent lots of blood, sweat, and tears producing these amazing shows) that it is naturally a place to discuss stuff. I know the feeling of being part of a community like this, and I got the most out of my fandom because of it.

Worst:
If there is one thing about these forums that's such a pain to deal with, it's the navigation. More specifically, the search engine for these forums needs a makeover considering that the results do not match spelling exactly and only seem to return results from a long time ago and nothing recent. It's such a pain to find these show threads when a bazillion threads are popping up in the anime subforum, and thankfully Lorreen is maintaining a thread to find them easily. But for other stuff, I have to dig around.

I always thought it would be great if we maybe had some sort of news feed on our profiles that shows when we and our friends post. It would make keeping track of this a bit simpler maybe.

+ Community is active
+ Really like the layout
+ Threads tend to be pretty interesting

+/- Moderators aren't as strict as they use to be (More different types of threads, but at the same time lots of duplicates and way too many threads on a single anime or topic)

- I find most (75%) of the community to be annoying or just dumb (Personal opinion)
- Unable to see threads I made
- Search function is awful

Best thing: It helps me waste time, and I get to be a snide SOB for a second in between being a real life adult. (Psssh Im not really like this, I just act)

Worst thing: You all wanna debate the sun and moon. Leave it alone. Let's talk boo--- I mean sports.

Best- It's a very active forum with lots of people to talk to

Worst- Not enough trolls, hatred, rivalry, drama.

Best - great people with a great sense of humor! Also, a wide range of people. You're never lacking for unique useres on here.

Worst - It's currently structured in such a way that tends to foster serious stuff in equal or greater proportion to the lighthearted stuff. Every forum has it's forte or an area that it's best in. CR's forte is anime (of course), but also just lighthearted fun in general. That's not to say that a forum can't venture outside of its forte, but I think it does well to remember what it's best at ^_^

Best - No one starts threads about why they hate a specific anime.
