The fact that chapter 72 is named Halfway really makes it seem like Ishida's been planning to end it here for a long time.
But man do I hope there's a sequel. There's so much stuff left to be answered. ;-;

The word was Hanpa, which is what Touka's brother calls Kaneki because he only has one eye. It is more along the lines of incomplete or, what I always thought of it as, half-assed. It might just be a mistranslation.

The literal translation of Hanpa (半端) is "halfway to the end" though?

That ending though, not sure how I feel about that. Not sure how they are going to continue this.

Yes and no, the kanji he picked for ha can mean end or beginning, or a border. From the origins of the character, it is more closely related to edge. That being said, halfway from the beginning still implies an end. I haven't seen anything posted from Ishida or Jump yet, so hopefully it is just rumours.

GUYS!!!, look at the mysterious number 19 hidden on Touka's shirt from the second to last page of ch 143. I have no clue what it means but this definitely increases my hope a hundredfold of getting a potential sequel. Hopefully it represents the date of announcement for the sequel series.

This blows. That was a fun manga while it lasted. i suppose Ishida wants more time to spend on Penisman.

There has been multiple instances thus far where a number has been embedded into the manga panels. I can't recall exactly where other examples of these were, but people have been speculating that these numbers represent Tarot cards. In this case, the number 19 would signify the Sun Arcana.

As quoted from Wikipedia:
"A. E. Waite suggested that this card is associated with attained knowledge. An infant rides a white horse under the anthropomorphized sun, with sunflowers in the background. The child of life holds a red flag, representing the blood of renewal while a smiling sun shines down on him, representing accomplishment. The conscious mind prevails over the fears and illusions of the unconscious. Innocence is renewed through discovery, bringing hope for the future."

I've yet to read the new chapter, but I'm almost positive this is symbolic in some way. Just as the other examples I've witnessed have been.

I didn't know that about the Haiku.

But Kaneki DID see that (clown guy) Souta. He was the one who talked to Tsukiyama when they were going to kill Kaneki. There was so much foreshadowing with the Pierrots. Uta was unexpected but even the side characters had large hints surprisingly.
This was in the 100th chapter but kept thinking why Ishida would bring up those side characters.

Hopefully there will be a sequel...

The "See you next" on Touka's shirt and the 19 representing hope give me hope that there might possibly be a sequel.
Hopefully. ;^;

I bet Suzuya will become the new MC, if there ever is a sequel.
