About 3% of newborns have a "major physical anomaly", but a lot movies put deformed babies in a negative light. I wonder if the movies' potrayal of parents is valid. What you would do if your baby came out looking like the character "Quasimodo", or was like the baby in "It's Alive".

It's Alive- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_Alive_%28film%29

EDIT: While looking for a pic to post, I learned about Teratophobia, fear of bearing a deformed child or fear of monsters or deformed people. Apparently its quite common and people take medication and go through treatments to deal with it.

as said in the previous posts, it is sad for your baby to be deformed, but still he's still my flesh and blood so i'll gladly accept him and raise him with the love and care he deserves.

i would really hate it that my baby is deformed..because if it would not be that way if i had taken care of the baby wyl in pregnancy... most of the time babies become deformed because of the environment of the mother.... and lack of nutrition wyl in pregnancy

i think if ur child only has 45 chromosomes then that child will show signs of deform.
normal is 46.

sometimes its the sperms whereas the fault usually lies on the female side. D;

its sad isnt it? i have a cousin who is suffering but all of us love him the same. (:

Though I would be disappointed , I would learn to accept and love my special kid .
Yes , learn first . Not everyone is gonna love their deformed kid straight away .
If you said you would , you`re lying to yourself .
Anyway , I would treat my child as normal as I could because he or she deserves that kind of treatment .
He or she may be a pain in the behind but then again all children are .
He or she should still be treated like a human being , not some freak that I picked up in the garbage .
That baby would come from me and he or she has the right to gain my love and affection .

I'd be scared at first if it was really, really deformed since it's a human reaction. I would love it and want to take care of him/her. But if it was too much, I might feel too sad and not want the child to live through it. That is if it was almost almost impossible for them to have a happy life, friends, marriage, their own children, etc. It'd break my heart too much since it's my child. It's tough enough for some normal people to be happy in our society.

I saw a video on youtube with a baby that looked reptilian. It had red bulgey eyes and it's skin was greyish green and spotty. My friends and I thought it was a fake for sure, but I did more research on the video and found out that it was actually real!! The cause of the deformity was radiation poisoning, and apparently in some areas of the world, anomalies like this are fairly common. The baby didn't live for more than a few hours, of course.

Agreed with, I'd love my football star of a son over my deformed child with utters, unless they gave delicious milk.

definitely, and if it was impossible to get rid of it alive or pre-alive, I would cry and not risk having anymore children...

I'm open, its true what i said. I'd still love it but i cant guarantee i'd love it even with my other children. And yeah if i knew well i was pregnant that its going to come out deformed. I'd probably get rid of it
