Well anime is and always will be mostly directed at teenagers. So if you have a problem with that you can always go watch other stuff. Noone is stopping you OP.

How about Detective Conan? Wouldn't that be more for everyone? In terms of real-life situations, it's almost hyper-sensitive to what would actually happen, I think!

i'm not sure what type of "mature" anime your looking for.
the few violent/ecchi shows this season are still pretty shounen-tastic (and i mean that in the worst way... i'm looking at YOU, black bullet). brynhildr is good and definitely doesn't shy away from death and gore, but its also very obviously a harem setup around a highschool boy where the typical hijinks ensue inbetween all the heavy stuff.
if your looking for carnage maybe try sidonia no kishi? its been pretty good, still falls back on some tired shounen tropes occasionally but for the most part i've found it refreshing.

if you're actually just looking for something more emotionally mature or deep mushishi is great, if a little slow. ping-pong, while still dealing with highschoolers, is pretty much devoid of your typical shounen bullshit, and has uncommonly well-realized characters.

anyways, a bunch of shounen pandering is what we get because thats what sells. if you want to see more mature animation coming out of japan the only thing i can really tell you is to actually buy those series when they do come around so that we might get more in the future. your crunchyroll subscription doesn't amount to much compared to the actual sales/

I haven't finished the current Jojo's Bizzare Adventures, but if its giving the same vibes as the previous I'd say that's pretty mature. I also second Mushishi. Hunter x Hunter maybe? (the violence is at a mature level at least) Blade and Soul has some violence, but after 5 episodes there isn't really a coherent plotline.

I really can't think of anything 18+ though, unless you're talking super dark and messed up stuff like Berserk or Bible Black (never again).

I love Renmei! It was very mature, and you could tell that it was from the same man that created Lain, but not in a bad way.

He also did Texhnolyze. Or, rather I should say, members of the staff has worked on the some great title like Renmei and Lain such as Texnolyze, Hellsing, Shigurui, Bokurano, Gunslinger Girl, Evangelion, Redline, Kurozuka, Ergo Proxy, etc.

meh. one of my complaints in anime. not enuf mature. like issues. blood and gore is pretty much not in the mature area anymore.
nudity and ecchi is fun and all, but i really want to see more 'serisous' anime. ghost in the shell, black lagoon, elfen lied. stuff like that.
and i would really like to see more in the way of romance. (nana is still on my list of to see)

i get tired of having to choose between hentai or sickly sweet romance that takes forever and goes no where.
i would love to see a romance that has some physical intmacy in it. and i dont mean full on aki sora OVA stuff. please teacher was a good example of what i want more of. REC as well.

inside mari is a great manga that is perfect example of what i would love to see more of.

anyways......

There are plenty of ones in past years. Keep searching. Here, I got a (very outdated) list of anime I've seen. It's only in alphabetical order, but if you see something that interests you I will try my best to tell you if it's "mature" or not.

Anyone else who wants to know about one or the other is free to ask me too.

Seriously. It's the adults that pay the subscription fee so let's see more mature anime. This season has been abysmal. I dropped most of the simulcast anime because they were kiddie crap.

Unless you can point to examples of what you consider "mature" series that Funimation or another site got, or no one licensed for simulcast, there isn't much CR could have done about it.

Words won't convince the companies back in Japan to make more of the anime you desire, only money will. Even then, you have to keep in mind the Japanese audience gets more "votes", as they pay more per episode when they purchase on home video that you do (and if you only stream, your "vote" is so small it is barely noticeable).

The one I started watching was Brynhilde. Definitely not for children.

This all depends on what kind of 'Mature' you're referring to?

Well... you, and everyone else thinking the season is weak or abysmal, that is just your opinion.

This season is probably one of my favorites since I started watching Anime.

The weak season isn't Crunchyroll's fault. It's a weak season in general and Crunchyroll has made the best of it. Have you seen Funimation's simulcast lineup for example? It's pretty freaking abysmal.

Excuse me? This season has been awesome! I have no idea what you're talking about.

On topic: Sounds like the OP hasn't watched more than 4 shows this season. May I ask what did you watch? Also I suggest watching Chaika The Coffin Primcess if you haven't yet.

1. To the original poster - You need to be more specific about what you are wanting. As other have pointed out do you want more ecchi, action, better stories, or actually having anime centered around good adult characters?

2. For me, this season has been average to a little low. There have been several shows that I have dropped because they could not hold my interest. But, I will say my favorite for this season (and is actually what I consider a good show that is mature) is The Kawai Complex Guide. http://www.crunchyroll.com/the-kawai-complex-guide-to-manors-and-hostel-behavior

I don't fully agree with OP but i do think it would be nice to see more mature series in the future. I love shows that use random and a little childish humor as much as the next guy, but seeing deep character development gets my boat running.
