Yes, anime is entertainment, but what is that thing make it entertaining for you, like comparing it to other media?

Hmmm, I think the thing that makes it entertaining for me is you are able to literally pick yourself up from your own world and place yourself in to another one. This is exactly the reason why I love One Piece so much. When anime is able to make you feel like you are part of the adventure, that is when you know it's good. It's really the same thing as reading a good book. Imagination is everything and anime is no exception. When the story is amazing, the characters are lovable and you are interested, there isn't a better form of media IMO.

The stories, the characters, the drama, the music, the vampires, the titans, the devil fruit powers... Among other things.

Will you still watch anime if those thing you mentioned are missing?

And by the way. what is "colours"? you mean "colors"?

Yeah cause I enjoy anime for a good story and some good laughs. So even if its missing those things if it keeps me entertained I'm fine. Also "colours" is the English version of spelling it.

What is that entertaining for you other then "good story and some good laughs"?

At first it was because i was interested in samurai's and the like so then my friend got me into anime through that and now i try find anime that have good story, plot twists that you don't see coming, art style or animation, great action sequences, comedy and damn the most important part is likeable characters. Example - Gintama, Code Geass and One piece to name a few

Not sure I understand the question. It's what entertains me. There's nothing specific about anime, itself, I like or hate.

When I hear a funny joke, I laugh.

When I read a depressing story, I get sad or cry.

When I see an awesome action sequence, I get fired up.

When I expect something frightening or unexpected to happen, I get chills in my spine.

Anime doesn't have to be the medium that delivers these emotions. I've gotten them in movies, books, manga, Television, video games, radio, comedians, sports, and other media as well. It just happens to be the one that delivers it most often for me.

Will you still watch anime if it no longer does that for you?

Well I like pictures in motion better than just pages full of ink.

I have to ask, why can't you like things even if you don't know why you like them. Sometimes you can't explain what makes you feel. You just feel it.

Anime isn't different. Yes, characters are drawn and some thing are weird in a funny way but tbh anime doesn't differ that much from other entertainment. Good plot, good characters and some comedy there and there makes me enjoy a show. Whether it be it be anime or not. I don't care if it's a puppet show I'm watching.

...No, I wouldn't. Because it wouldn't entertain me anymore. It would be the same if I didn't get that from reading a book, or playing a sport, or watching a movie, or if any other medium didn't give me those feelings.

Anime being anime has nothing to do with that, though. At the risk of sounding like an ass, I'm wondering if you're looking for a deeper meaning that doesn't exist.
