I'm beginning to think the OP is like a little kid who just learned that asking "Why?" constantly pisses off his parents.

Forgive my shallow response but my first reason would be for the anime guys. Then the plot.

I won't say what I like about anime because it doesn't need to be said. Rather it cannot be said.

It is a medium. You cannot be specific about a medium. Genres, music, art, voice-acting, all those specific details that you find in the medium, however, you can say what you like.

But I'd like you to answer me a question of my own: What do YOU look for in anime?

What does the person, Thfelese, like about anime?

If i where to explain why i watch it then it would be to much and this post would be flagged as spam. That is the reason why i cannot say this and why i must not say it is because I may come out your PC and give you the longest lecture as if i were your parent/guardian and nobody wants that now im sure of it

Unfortunately the reasons I fell in love with it many years ago, are no longer relevant to anime itself- so you've got me asking myself WHY I still watch it at all. I got really into it in the late 90s because I loved the urban and futuristic worlds that were all artistic creations at the time- all of it drawn by hand down to the smallest details- there was no cgi in any of the old shows I was watching and I became fascinated with, and wanted to be inside the worlds they created. Adding to that, the characters in anime were sharp and crisp and provocative (and beautiful) compared with- say traditional American animation- so seeing all this was really amazing and so I wanted more. I still prefer older anime, mostly because I know it is all hand rendered- and so even if the events are hard to follow or the story is a botched mess- if it's fantastic looking enough I'll watch it for the sole pleasure of the visuals.
An inspiring story definitely helps- but isn't even necessary. Obviously I have genres I prefer and ones I avoid. Today, I have to hunt for hand drawn content and it's becoming quite a letdown. There is so much cgi that I have to tone down my criticism- for fear of just putting people off who really don't care about the backgrounds or how generic everything is. I suspect the reason for most other people today, especially younger- is driven primarily by the 'anime style' of female character they want to identify with, and little else. Because nearly everything else is cheaply done cgi- and if you look closely enough- you can spot backgrounds that are recycled in several shows! I know I just sound like a grumpy old man... "it ain't the way it used to be"... so I'll go now

Well there is so many reasons that I cannot just mention one.
But in truth I'm mezmerised by anime. I can feel alive in a weird way, I can escape to another world for some time, I love the fact that it is in japanese, as I find the language interesting as well. But the energy you get from watching anime is incredible. Also, often the relationship I see (in the series I have been watching) between the people, it makes me fuzzy inside Of course it is not the same with every series there is, and I don't want people to misunderstand me when I say that I love escaping to the anime world instead of living in my own life and everything... I'm sorry I'm rambling

I guess I cannot explain it properly so it is understandable... But another explanation is... I'm addicted

Anime is entertaining, it is like asking why do you watch regular TV? Why do you read books or blogs? Some anime is funny and most anime has a good story.

I'm with you on this one. Honestly, someone who constantly asks questions usually comes off as really nosy and annoying.

At the risk of sounding like a cunt, probably because it's capable of being pretty damn magical, even when it's not done well.

I never really knew why I became an anime fan, but if I had to choose a reason I would say how unique it is. Not other form of entertainment offers its emotional depth.
