Is the crunchroll app available on the PS3 store in the UK? I've been waiting a while and heard nothing. I've seen that it's now available on Chromecast so it should be available over here by now . . . Thanks for any info

You can download it by setting up a US PSN Store account, which is detailed in several threads in /forumcategory-571925/sony-gaming-platforms.

I've heard that apps need to be approved by region for the PSN, so the CR app may not have been approved due to higher quality standards in regions outside the US, or possibly because of exclusivity contracts with Animax.

Wonder why the first post was reported to the mods?, seems somewhat petty minded.

Only because it was posted to the wrong sub-forum.

Still seems like Crunchyroll aren't pushing it. The US one has been out ages and getting it on Chromecast before the UK PSN is frustrating to say the least when you're paying for a subscription. There is never any news about it either as most of the search results in Google are dated 2013.

Chromecast is rather easy to develop for, and Google Play doesn't suffer the regional fracturization of the PSN stores. The latter is also true for Xbox Live Marketplace, which is while UK residents will be see the Xbox One app there, alongside the current 360 app.

To put it another way, if Sony had the same "submit once, publish (almost) everywhere" mechanism Microsoft currently does, you would probably have the app available in your region's PSN Store.

That said, it isn't difficult to obtain either the PS3 or PS4 app if it isn't available in your country's PSN Store. Just Google "Create US PSN account".
