Too late! It's mainstream!

That being said, i wonder what our resident mainstream hater thinks of this show.

Top class budget, animation, music, writing, marketing, and direction.

I honestly think that Madoka Magica is currently the best anime right now... at least for me anyway. Just an opinion from someone who grew up watching anime.

- For the plot, while there were some parts that more or less felt off for me at times, it all connected perfectly for me once the series was over.
Time-travel is a theme that I really seemed to have trouble adapting to, but when I consider how much I loved the character development in Madoka and the psychological theories(?) they threw in really set my brain active (which it rarely does).
- I really felt a deep connection for all the characters, and I even liked Kyuubey even tho it was such a sly bastard. Tho I had some mixed feelings for Mami after I read The Different Story. Don't know if I like her much or not anymore. Favorite character is either Homura or Kyouko. Usually just say Kyouko since KyouSaya, but really individually can't choose between these 2.
- The art-style didn't really get to me when I first watched it, but for some reason when I re-watched it really felt pleasing to my eyes.
- The Animation was also beautiful, I really can't recall that many series that dragged my eyes into the movements as much as this did.
- The music seemed perfect to me in all aspects. Around the time I watched Madoka Magica for the first time I really didn't pay much attention to OSTs and just cared about the OPs, but after I heard Kajiura Yuki's music on Madoka I really felt like I should appreciate them more. Plus the OPs were song by ClariS, a group I've loved for years. (So sad they're disbanded). I currently listen to one of the OST collections once a day, sometimes even all 3 of them in a row.
-Oh yes, almost forgot. Urobuchi script- Magnificent feels management, all while being cruel as hell. Damn you Gen!!
- Finally but certainly not least, KyouSaya OTP.

Well, as anyone can tell, I'm an idiot and can't really defend the series as deeply as others can. All I can say in the end is that I truly enjoyed it and that the hype is deserved. Also sorry for bad grammar, don't really feel like proofreading today.

Over hype aside, I liked it. I thought it was a fresh and terrifying take on the magical girl genre. I liked how this took something fluffy and benign and made it psychedelic and dark.

The movie though......
It's unexpected but resonable

I absolutely adore Madoka Magica. Its probably in my top 5 favorite anime of all time.

I did have some issues with Madoka's character, though. I understand what they were trying to do and I don't fault them for anything - but I feel like her indecisiveness dragged on for just a little too long.

Nevertheless, I loved all of the characters, the story, and the soundtrack. Especially the soundtrack. Its probably my second favorite after Aria. I mean, even something as simple as Desiderium manages to produce this deep and mysterious sense of longing. Its all these little things that make it a favorite to me personally.

But to each his own.

I liked it, I thought it was an enjoyable show to watch. I have not seen the three movies for it but I hear the third one was good since it was actually new material.

I'd say the show is "love it or hate it" but it's really more like "love it or well I guess it's pretty good but it's so overrated and by the way X is way better," which is kind of funny. Since I'm in the "love it" camp, I take this to mean that it's extremely good, but not for everyone.

It's rare to see something relatively mainstream get ruthlessly fawned over by critics, so it must be doing something right.
