I would make it more tense. take out all of the romance. idk why, but when kirito and asuna went on a 2 week holiday raising an e-daughter, it felt so out of place. it's like your life is on the line, and you have time to... relax? and just chill out somewhere...

but i'm not the one who can sell my stories for million of dollars. so the writer of SAO must be doing something right if millions of people loved it.

I think the romance was the main selling point for the story. After all, that's pretty much the motivation for the entire 2nd season.

But I do agree with you that the way their romantic relationship developed seemed odd... and completely rushed.

I like SAO and see no reason to redo it. It's an enjoyable anime that stayed pretty true to its source material. If I want to watch something that takes the stuck in the game concept in other directions I'd just watch something like Log Horizon- Plus I'm sure there will be more forthcoming series with a similar premise as well to dig into.

This is your answer to everything, isn't it?

I think you and I are going to get along just fine.

I personally wouldn't make any changes. As much as I wanted more in the 1st and even 2nd half of the series, they fit perfectly. In a MMO, most of your dungeoning would pretty boring after you experience the same thing over and over again. Same would apply to the 100 floors of a dungeon. Of course, this could have more variety than just running the same dungeon, but all it would be is grinding/action scenes, which aren't what anyone would see in any RPG, as described in SAO. It's just like watching someone grind from level 30 to level 35 for a few hours to get a new skill. I also doubt they can do a lot of variety with the bosses besides parry, counter, dodge, etc.

While the romance did seemed rushed, the part with Asuna and Kirito taking a break from the action is normal to me. As much as I like to level up and gain new and better skills, you need a break. Since they can't take a break from the game itself, they do something else. It may seem farfetched to "relax" in a virtual world where you can die in real life, but fighting day in and day out would be a lot of pressure, and let's not forget people die more and more as they continue to progress to beat the game. You need a break from all the action, and relaxing like how some people are in the game is a good way to do it.

The 2nd half gets more of a backlash, but it was still enjoyable for me. As far as I'm concerned, incest is nothing new in anime, and even then, it's not to the point where it's mother/son. I guess my only complaint was not introducing more of the other factions in the AFO game.

That's just coming from my take as a person who enjoys MMOs~

Hmm.... changes to SAO eh? Well I guess I could put in my two cents about this, although it's going to kind of long. If I deem it too long when I get done typing this, I'll put it all in a spoils box so it doesn't take much room.

To start it off, yes. Sword Art Online should be redone and No, it shouldn't.

Now let's get into more details on what I would change about SAO to make it more interesting and possibly give it a buy rating for me. (If you know Glass Reflection's Arkada, you're awesome.)

Now I will be agreeing on a point from the posts above at the time of me typing this (2:27 AM EST, 6/7/14) because they make a good point on it, but would like to make an edit to what they said.

STORY
I like the story as is, allow it stay how it was designed to be. With it being 100 floors, I don't expect to see every floor, but only seeing I believe around 5-10 floors the entire 1st half is a shot to the foot. Even though they went back and forth between episodes to get back home and stuff, with the exception of KIrito going to Asuna's house, You could show a few more floors, even if it's for about 10 minutes, to give more of a feel for the MMO world. Some filler episodes will have to be in, but that could be the points to further go into why they're trapped inside an MMO since Kirito did have an idea on why they were trapped to begin with.

CHARACTERS

ANIMATION, MUSIC, VOICE ACTING, ETC...
I honestly believe these are ok as is. I wouldn't make a change to them.

I would've loved to see the Aincrad arc last until episode 25, which would automatically eliminate the incest mess. I guess they could pull an FMA: Brotherhood move and name it Sword Art Online: Nonincesthood.

He is rewriting it, its called SAO progressive... but the web novels to me were really about the VR technology which continues into Accel World not any specific game.. the side love/harem stories were just filler ...

Half of the changes you people want require the source to be completely rewritten.

Watching Kirito grind through 100 floors would not be a fun anime to watch. And it would take too long. Remember that Kirito is a loner for most of his Aincrad journey.

The main Aincrad arc starts at floor 73, if that makes anyone more at ease.

What they needed to do better was to stop cutting out vital material from the show.
My primary complaint was "Tonkii where?". I don't know why they cut that part out.
My secondary complaint was that "Murder Case in the Area" was adapted horribly. If they redid that part it would be a lot better.

I would not cut out all the important character details that the Light Novels had that the anime deemed not important enough to show, which is really what hurt the anime the most, since it took any depth the characters had and made it a little more superficial and bland. :/

When I heard that SAO had 100 floors I expected a long running anime (Minnimum of 2 episodes per floor, plus filler, equals 200+ episodes in my opinion ).So, when I saw all the time skips I was pissed. So, I guess I would take the time skips out, and make it a long running anime.

Really??? Don't you think that'd get a bit too repetitive? Imagine the same thing over and over. Then you've gotta add more characters to the story and such and it just creates more plot holes in the story. The way I see it was: Short and Sweet. I really enjoyed SAO, and I wouldn't have changed anything (maybe that whole forbidden love but lets just say she was just horny ok?)

Fillers? No thank you full on canon :p

Just my opinion and so was yours nothing wrong.
