It freakin' ticks me off when someone says "JAPANESE CARTOON" or "CARTOON" and even sometimes "BADLY MADE CARTOON" I feel like crap when they do. I think that people should also respect anime like they say its badly made and that its for kids yet they love the movie frozen... They also watch cartoon network... n stuff

Well, when people hear the word "cartoon" they get the connotation of little kid shows.
When someone hear the word "anime" they get eh connotation that it's shows that a lot of Asians watch.

These are the connotations the average person would think of. The problem is, they can't tell what's the difference between each other, when the average person that's uneducated on it, really is. So they would just assume you're watching a cartoon. And when they see your age, they think, "Oh, this person must not have grown up and faced the real world yet."

But it's honestly pointless to try to education someone about it. So I honestly don't really feel any notion towards it. I just enjoy my anime without others criticizing.

If you ask a Japanese person what anime shows they like, they may list a western show (eg. "Adventure Time").

So for me, anime=cartoon, cartoon=anime.

Anyone who gets upset about it, probably has no life and lives like a hikikomori.

I don't care. If they call an anime a cartoon, let them think that.

Ahh the great debate of "Anime versus Cartoons". Personally, I don't mind either saying, as anime is technically cartoons. They are basically the same thing, but the word "anime" is typically used to describe Japanese animations, whereas people usually refer to Western animations, such as Johnny Bravo and the like as "cartoons". In my opinion, neither is incorrect, but their connotations lead people to believe that they have different denotations. It's simply a matter of how you view a certain type of animation.

Doesn't bother me because I think cartoons are anything drawn as apposed to filming a live cast

yes anime are cartoons, but its how some haters say it

"ugh i don't watch cartons" as if its some kind of childish kids show on the kids network. make it seem they are above it all.

anime is so much more, and i would be happy to see shows such as one piece and soul eater in live action, but the gfx and vfk would have to be Hollywood level.
