Hello everyone,

I would like to get your opinions on my problem... a love addiction to anime but also addicted to gaming. You may be like, what's the problem both are the best thing ever!... however for me it seems I have to play the game and force myself not to in order to watch a series. The problem lies with both time in a day, and the fact that I have to watch in sub only... for me trying to watch a dub is like nail on chalkboard since I do not get the emotion I would feel if i hear the feelings in the Japanese language while reading the sub... so trying to play a game (or work since I work from home) is impossible since I cannot watch both screens without being slow on the other or missing text from the anime.

Do any of you have a similar dilemma, and if so what was your solution? Could you offer any suggestions as to what I could do, to try and get the best of both worlds?

I just do whatever I feel like. Sometimes I feel like watching 10 episodes of anime, others I feel like having an 8 hour gaming session. I never force myself to do one or the other. If you feel like watching anime, do it, you have all the time in the world to play games another time. I'd personally prioritize work/working from home though, and use anime/games as a reward/incentive for completely a certain amount of work.

I totally get where you are coming from; dub voices are often just so off the mark, I would rather silence than listen to them. I also feel like I need to be doing something else even while watching subbed shows. The way I worked around it is I use a cheap tablet to play the show while I also play whatever game I am currently engrossed in. I put the tablet relatively close to where I need to keep my eye focus, and when I hear people speak I quickly flick my eyes over to what is being said in the show. It's very similar to how you switch attention to your different fields of view while in a car. Obviously there will be some times if you are playing pvp heavy or fps games where things get too intense and you miss a few minutes, but hey that's why they have rewind. Playing slower paced strategic games will also help with being able to divide your attention effectively without missing anything.

i work, date and workout the simple fact that i have time for any anime at all or gaming is shocking sometimes I get sleep deprived like justin as a matter of fact but some days I just push my work and social activities to the side to get a good amount of gaming and anime in but I would highly recommend you not get too addicted to those sort of things there's other things in life that need attention too

i myself used to be both addicted to gaming and watching anime (however i recently stopped gaming this year, to focus more on anime). I Found myself slightly overwhelmed, and was often spending MUCH more money that i should have on games. It came to the point where i had so many games that i didn't even want to play any, since i had so much, it felt almost as if i had a job. So began my decline in interest in gaming.

I think the best advice i could give, is dont force yourself to do anything. If you feel like gaming... go game, if you feel like watching anime, go watch anime. Remember, your anime episodes will always be here for you to watch whenever, same goes with gaming. You can always game whenever you want to. Dont get to the point i did, when i felt like i HAD to game, just because i spent some money on it; that can really burn you out, and ruin the entire fun of actually gaming/ watching anime.

you could also play for lets say two hours a day, and then watch anime for two hours a day. when i was still gaming, i would play from 7pm to about 9 or 10 pm, and then watch anime till 12pm, then go to sleep. If you want to keep doing both on a daily basis, just plan yourself a schedule

Find an online game with anime style and some good roleplayers to pretend you're in an anime while you play your game?

A more likely solution would be to become more selective - surely not all of these games/anime are really worth your time? If they're not offering something new or different, skip them?

Odds are you'll just have to prioritize. That or give up everything else in your life and become like a NEET so you have to for anime and games?

Less drastic would be to look at how you use your time. Do you, for instance, spend lots of time on forums instead of these other things?
Then give up forums. Same with social media. Create a schedule to do certain things, and then *only* do those things at the scheduled times. Also, avoid tvtropes and other such sites.

Play games until you get sick of them for a little while, then watch anime or tv shows until you're sick of that. Usually if you're sick of both games and anime/tv shows then reading a great (and epicly long) series of books can also be a good break from reality. Lots of books are much better than any anime or game you could ever play. When I'm sick of all three of these things... that's when it's probably time for bed.

I usually watch a simcast when it comes out, I usually try to play games in the day time and watch anime at night.
