Why? They lost, but they did play quite well, they managed to show us the best match in the World Cup so far.

Tomorrow, we will probably see yet another awesome game with Germany vs Portugal! I will be rooting for Germany, mostly because I greatly respect them as Italy's rivals.

I want them to win....WIN FOR MOTHER RUSSIA!!!!!!!!!!!

It always amazes me how soccer can be so popular worldwide and so insignificant in the USA.

I agree with that. When I try to talk to my sports liking friends here, and I am amazed to see how they just don't care about soccer or Futbol

I know what you mean, although it's especially bizarre considering how big it is in the country I live in. To each their own I guess

I'm all in it for Italy but I doubt they have chance to win with their current situation, so I guess it's either Germany or Argentina.

Portugal is self-destructing here. First, they give up two goals, and now Pepe gets ejected for a stupid headbutt.

Depressing spectacle... Germany is impressively good, but this is not what I consider a good match.

England all the way. Bounce back next Thursday against Uruguay and beat Costa Rica. Got really unlucky against the Italians as we were the better team....

England was in no way better than Italy, and the most they deserved was probably a draw. They were suprisingly better than they used to be, scary on the offence, but they lacked the ability to actually score. Italy was far from its best too, especially the defence (they missed both their 1st string goalkeeper and left defender), but they displayed wonderful technical skills and hit the post/bar twice. It was the best World Cup match so far, a wonderful football played by both teams. I am annoyed by the number of people who cannot appreciate that and praise both teams for what they did.

P.S. I despise the use of the word lucky/unlucky when discussing sports and even more when to justify a team losing.

I agree and disagree. It was the best match so far surprisingly as many thought it would be a slow game. But we were the better side overall and didn't deserve to lose.
