So, what do you guys think? Personally, I feel like they missed the mark on, well, everyone, but I do see some redeeming qualities (every once in a while the voices seem to match up).

Kinda hate dubbed anime. except for Dragon ball Z (who ever did the voice work for goku and gohan should be stabbed with a banana).

Personally I think that the Japanese version will always be superior to an American version. This is because the original was more emotional.

I was trying to think of a way to put what I thought of it into words, and I think "not enough emotion in it" pretty much nails it.

It's a 2 minute clip, don't write it off yet. As for the lines in the clip itself... a bit shaky. It's mostly the voice actor (Erik Kimerer) for Ryuji, though (and then, only certain insignificant lines). He was great as Haruyuki in Accel World, sounded a lot like Spike Spencer in that role too (Shinji Ikari from Evangelion).

I don't really think NIS America did a good job with the dub.

I've got the collector's edition so I think I can comment on the overall quality pretty well.

Most of the English voice cast does a good job doing their parts. The emotional scenes are well done for the most part and there is little overplaying of lines. This does little to alleviate the fact that the English version fells very different than the Japanese one. A good chuck of the characters are miscast, even a main character like taiga. Really this is probably a result of the limited talent pool on our side. In addition to that, the line localizations are rather bad, to the point of changing a character's personality.

Overall I would highly recommend japanese audio instead. The original acting was very good and I didn't expect the english to come close to it.

But hey looking on the bright side, I was able to mux and then encode the collector's edition to MKV. I couldn't stand the low quality toradora "blu-ray" encodes out there so I did my own. I'm very pleased with the results.

Wasn't as bad as most dubs. But still just ok.
Except for Minori, she sounded bad.

The dub of The Devil is a Part timer was good btw.

I like dubs, but this dub is a so-so with me.

Taiga and Minori sound perfect

Ryuuji and Kitamura need deeper voices
