I liked it! Does anyone know if this is the same dub that is coming to Crunchy?

Hmmm. Newish and high quality VA's with a faithful and perhaps little localization?

I'm going to be honest, it looks rather well done.

They're avoiding cliche dub Voice Actors while giving proper character voices.

Some might complain about Mr.Glasses Awesome, but he sounded Like Bosch, and look! IT IS THE BLACK POWER RANGER! high quality VA for Glasses Awesome is just perfect. No problems, nobody should have problems with it.

On the other side, Erik Scott is new and a good choice for Ryuji, I'm happy with it. He has few roles and new voices are good.

Cassandra Morris isn't inexperienced in any way, bit isn't an old stay Anime voice, just perfect for Taiga I believe. Its not Tsundere legend voice, but its just great for the character.

I really do like this dub.. I think you should too! If you don't, watch more Dub and Sub's.

I liked the Dub and i think the english script was written really well, the show has a very natural flow that goes with it, like the characters are actually talking with each other and not just reading lines.

They have good comedic timing and can actually act dramatically when they need to. One of the better made dubs that I've seen in a while.

Dub trailer is promising overall. Not sure about Ryuji's voice but it's not bad or anything. Taiga was really good. Minorin's one line was spot on.

CR having this is causing me a legitimate dilemma.

When I do my Toradora! re-watch, do I watch the discs I own (subs only) or do I watch the dub on CR?

That's a bridge I'll have to cross when I get there...

I cant really picture Taiga as anyone other than Rie Kugimiya. I skimmed through to some of my favorite parts and Cassandra Lee's Taiga didn't come close to enough to do full justice to the character.

Also, whomever thought that it was a great idea to put Johnny Young Bosch into this dub should be shot multiple times.

It seems most of the dubbers are rather young or new to the scene aside from JYB and while the dub is better than some of the dubs I've seen in the past for other shows that feature tsundere characters, it just doesn't suite my taste nor does it seem like it would invoke the same emotional impact of the original sub.

That being said, the fact that they've dubbed it is a good thing because this show has been one of the most underrated shows in anime at least on the american side for a long long time. (some of my friends who are more otaku than i am, have never watched it and don't even know what im talking about when i bring it up). Maybe this will get it more exposure to less hardcore fans of the anime genera.

Then again, I speak japanese rather well so maybe that is colouring my opinion, though i think im not wrong considering that Rie Kugimiya won a few awards for the part.

Not a fan of this show, but I liked the voices. But woah! The timing was completely off!

When I watched this a few weeks back, I thought it had its ups and downs. I loved it because it has the somewhat of the warmness that the Japanese track gave me at least. Good thing that Crunchyroll is streaming legally and in HD.

Ryuuji is wrong. Not deep enough, too high strung/overacted. Taiga's wrong, too girly and mature, not bratty/edgy enough. I'm generally okay with most of whatever JYB does, so I'm fine with him as Yusaku. Ami and Minori are fine as well. I don't care for how they handled Yasuko. Though she's not a major character it kinda matters to me. Actually, they could have gotten really over the top with Haruta and it would have worked just fine, but what they chose to do with him is nice as well. The biggest problems as always with dubs are still the choices with translation as someone else mentioned. If it makes sense and conveys what it needs to when I'm reading it in English then it'll make just as much sense if not more when I'm hearing it in English. No need to overhaul the script. It's like they make extra work for themselves when they do these dubs. It gets an 'it's okay for a dub score' from me.

Japanese and English are not the same language. Obvious, I know. But what you need to understand is that what may take a few words to say in Japanese may take much longer to say in English, and vice versa, and they have to match the dub to the mouths moving. Unless you constantly mess with the speed the characters talk at you're never going to get a perfect translation, and I'd reckon that would make for a far more awful dub.

As for the voices, I thought they were mostly fine, and those that I was less fine about, I got used to quickly, but I guess you can't please everyone.

I'd imagine the Crunchyroll version is available in HD so if you only have the DVDs that could be a factor.

I have the UK Blu-ray on pre-order (it's out around the end of September) and this is a Rie Kugimiya series so it seems like subtitled would be the better option. That said, I could watch it right now with the dub but then it'd colour my perception of the show. Hmm, what to do?

So, I have only watched a little of the dub but anytime I look at a translation of Toradora! there are a few places I check. It looks like it is using the DVD subs for the script on the dub. This was a HUGE mistake in my opinion. They should have redone the translation.

In the following I tried my best to speak in generals and avoid spoilers but just in case I will use a spoiler alert for the rest. If you have seen Toradora! before you should be able to pick out the scenes I am talking about.

So, to sum up, if you need it dubbed the VA is not that bad. The TRANSLATION of the subtitles and script for the dub is WRETCHED!
