Simple question but I feel like I should ask it. As I play more PvPish games like MOBA's and other MMOs that center around the Player vs Player aspect instead of PvE. How serious are you or can you get when you are in public games with other players ? I love games and i understand that people can make mistakes and other things but when they deliberately do stupid things, how does it make you feel ? This sounds a little like a rant and it sorta is, so in advance sorry .... The more I play with other people that I do not personally know in SMITE the more I feel like i am becoming an elitist. I guess that is the serious gamer in me talking but sometimes I hate it ... anyways, what are your feelings on this topic and how serious do you take games ?

Depends on the game. I aswell play mostly PvP games. I played WoW for a long time and was the top ranked ret paladin on my server for awhile. I know I got pretty pissed when people did stupid shit especially in Arena or rated battlegrounds. It was the people who did things that were obviously stupid, and acted like they didn't know, but I guess that would make anyone butthurt. In other games like FPS games, I get pretty serious if I'm doing really good, or if I'm fighting people I know I "try hard" to be first. So I guess yeah I take most games pretty seriously lol

I find that the better I am at PvP in the game the more serious I am but I also have less fun. When I am good at the PvE aspect of a game I have the most fun and am the least serious. Whenever I find a balance between the two it is best it seems. With PvP I like to be able to get a good kill streak going but then get obliterated later on. Makes me want to keep playing but also allows me to laugh at how poorly I did and not be a jerk to those I do actually beat.

It depends on the game but usually I am serious in the sense that I try to win, but in the end the results of the match don't really bother me. I just try to focus on improving myself in the long run.

I actually used to be extremely serious when playing games and it took me a bit to realize how it bled into my personality. I started to become upset at the smallest things in games because I thought that how I did was a reflection of my self worth. After a few of my friends pointed out how angry of a person I was, I made it my mission to stop getting so upset at things and calm down. It was hard at first but I eventually just started to focus on myself being friendly and improving myself as a player.

If you feel like you are becoming too bitter in terms of attitude as a player then focus on improving yourself more than winning and you will enjoy the game more. In games like Smite or Dota you need to understand that there are some things you cannot control so just focus on things that you can control.

I tend to get very competitive at times - not because I take myself so seriously, but because I really get into it. I remember playing Arms Race in CS:GO one time and it was just one kill after another, no deaths, and a little bit after I got to gold knife level somebody else got to gold knife level and my competitiveness kicked in so bad. We ended up in a knife fight, and when I won and came 1st I literally slammed my hands on my desk and proceeded to swear off the person who came 2nd, because I was that pumped up and I was like "lol bitch plz".

We play to win the game, and if we don't respect our opponents we will find the most hilarious way to win possible depending on what the game is.

(for example: SOCOM, extract game mode, rig up a bunch of claymores like dominoes and a member of the SEAL team will likely shoot them causing a chain reaction that results in them killing the hostages they were trying to rescue, Terrorists win.)

Haven't posts other than OP, but I figure I'll just throw in my 2 cents!

I played League of Legends pretty seriously. I'm always trying to learn new ways of playing champions, or perfecting my role as adc. Almost every game I take pretty seriously, unless I talk with friends ahead of time and we plan to goof off (generally as a group of 5, but sometimes 4 and we just hope the rando goes along with it).

Anyways, that's how I view the game. I'm really serious about it. However, when things don't go according to plan, I do my best to not get mad about it, or upset. Honestly, it's very easy to rage in MOBA's like League and SMITE, and if you find that you're getting angry too often, try to focus on that aspect of your gameplay. People have bad games, and some people troll. If anything, think of it as a challenge for yourself to do even better that one game. If it's really hopeless, just take a mental step back, breathe, and either try to enjoy the rest of it by being silly, or just take a break for a while.

All-in-all, games like these are fun, but they definitely show how little control we have over our anger. It's something that also applies in real life, so learning how to control yourself in a game can have actual benefits when you encounter frustrating situations in life!

Hope this has been a little informative and helpful c:

I had to stop playing MOBAs for a few months because I couldn't handle the combination of trolling, stupidity, and toxicity.

Im about as hardcore as you can get when it comes to PVE and coop. I do a generous amount of PVP though in games such as FPSs

Pretty much my entire life I've been playing games from the moment I wake up to the moment I sleep, except for things like school. I still occasionally do, but I'm starting to get bored of games and play them less and less. I used to easily get over 100 hours on Steam, these days it's around 5-20.

I also only play FPS / MMO/RPGS and only play PvE in mmo's and never PvP. I usually wont touch a RTS game except for a few like Starcraft and Warcraft 3. I've tried LoL and SMITE, but don't like MOBA's at all.
