No not really. Aside from that, thanks for a recommendation.

When I see something listed as "shounen" I expect it to be for ages 8 to seventeen. If it's a seinen anime it should be listed for ages 18 and older. As you stated, it really wouldn't matter though far as demographics. That is just how I see it though.

>_>

Snuff films, rape, terrorism, drug use, child experimentation and exploitation, murder, etc. aren't really meant for ages 8-17.

Angel Beats is seinen and so is K-On! (think about it, K-On!).

Just reminding you that what it's serialized in doesn't define its content or necessarily, the age group it's targeted at. Just what it's published under.

I'm curious though. Putting Angel Beats aside, have you ever seen K-On? Would you consider it a seinen based on its content?

Yes I've seen K-On. I wouldn't think of K-On as a seinen though.

was gonna say Hunter x Hunter & Gintama lol. Attack on Titan fits to a degree, but you do have your angry, screaming male lead who gets stronger haha.

Magi maybe... could be a seinen. Lots of world building, mystery, and political intrigue.

Death Note and Attack on Titan. When people say shounen they mean its meant for boys FMA does not fit at all because while it is mature it is still very much a boys manga. Plus I just gotta say this can't we keep our shounen in one category and seinin in the other because its tiring to hear people say good shows are not shounen when they actually are.

Well, it is.

On a side note, A Silent Voice (I've only read the one-shot, currently), the bullying (from both the teachers and the students alike) pissed me off so... much. Which means, it did its job well. That's literally one of the only things I get angry at, is bullying.

Anyway, if you still don't get what I meant -- let's see... WHETHER IT'S SHOUNEN, SHOUJO, SEINEN, OR JOSEI DOESN'T MATTER AT ALL.

K-On is a seinen anime?

It's a story that really toys with your emotions in a good way.

K-On! (けいおん! Keion!?) is a Japanese four-panel comic strip seinen manga written and illustrated by Kakifly. The manga was serialized in Houbunsha's seinen manga magazine Manga Time Kirara between the May 2007 and October 2010 issues.

Yuyushiki is also serialized in the same manga magazine.

Seinen is a manga demographic. Shounen is as well. They cannot be applied to anything else. There is no shounen anime or seinen Visual Novels or light novels. The demographic is based upon what magazine manga runs in. Anime can be based off of seinen, shounen, josei or shoujo manga but the genre does not mean anything after adaptation to anime.

Manga switches genres too. Jojo switched from shounen to seinen for example.
