That was everything I expected and more. Heartwarming and calming with the addition of Shaft's style, albeit a lot more subtle but still there.

As I fan of these SOL/moe type shows, it was wonderful, obviously not for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Why can't we have a Manga Time Kirara anime every season?

Ep 1

That was really cute (for a show that is in part brought to you by food porn).

I promised myself not to watch Shaft shows anymore, but since people have been mentioning the lack of prominent Shaft styles i guess i'll try this since i want to see the food.

5 seconds in...slow head turns and glitter. What am i fighting for...

Episode 1

That interaction between Ryou and Kirin is pretty cute. Turns out that the secret ingredient is nothing as love is what Ryou was missing out of her cooking, and it definitely worked for Kirin seeing that she's not exactly acclimated to life in Tokyo. Decent stuff so far, and I'll watch some more of this for the time being before deciding whether or not I want to continue watching this.

Slice-of-life and food? Two of my favorite things! I'm not necessarily a huge fan of CGDCT, but I'm definitely liking this one.

Recipe links;

Nabe (hot pot):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nabemono
https://cookpad.com/en/categories/hot-pot-nabe
I link to a whole category, because nabe (hot pot) is actually a whole category of cooking/food. I've got a whole cookbook with over fifty (IIRC, can't lay my hands on it at the moment) regional variations. All the recipes on Cookpad are submitted by home cooks so some of them are... odd.

I own a nabe pot, and if I didn't already have the ingredients for home made veggie soup on hand, nabe would be on the menu tomorrow.

Kitsune Udon:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Udon
https://cookpad.com/en/search/kitsune%20udon
Most recipes I could find on the web use dashi instead of the water Ryō's obaasan uses. There is powered dashi available, but it's not all that good and best used lightly. There are dashi "teabags" (containing flakes of kombu and bonito) available, they're hard to track down but I highly recommend them. Or, for the truly brave, you can make your own.

Inari Sushi:
https://cookpad.com/en/search/inari%20sushi
http://www.japanesecooking101.com/inarizushi-inari-sushi-recipe/ - an interesting variation with dried mushrooms in the rice filling.
I can't say much about inari sushi, as I've never tried it....

Disclaimer - I'm no expert on Japanese cooking, but I've been fiddling around with it for a couple of years off and on.
