Yes, it does support it.
Even moreso, specifically WHAT you watch here is directly supported. CR pays in proportion to the shows you actually view.

Hate _____? Don't watch it, $0 of your funds goes to that show.

You will see some pirates and fansubbers dissing CR; saying "Oh not enough money goes to the creators to make a difference"
That is them trying to justify and make themselves feel better.
Fansubbing still has it's place in anime fandom, and prob always will, don't get me wrong. But if you can support shows, DO IT.
CR is a good way to do exactly that.

you are supporting crunchyroll to bring the anime in a legal an safe way and doing so you are also helping the anime or tv networks back in japan to keep producing the stuff that we all consume or watch

@Bold That's really cool! I had no idea that's how they did it!

Also ya, I agree supporting the industry in some way is better than not doing it at all. Fansubbers that complain about CR fail to realize a lot of the things you guys explained to me. They're just being ignorant and like you said, they're trying to justify their actions.

That's why I love CR because I can support the industry in some way. Especially since I don't normally buy DVD sets.

To be honest I have the same question. I also ask if CR makes more money off of adds here on this site,or through subscriptions? I don't see how it could be more profitable for CR to have us pay fees over some big sponsor paying for adds.

Think of your subscription as an all you can eat buffet. Most people eat a little bit, maybe more than usual but not too much and feel freer to try other flavours they don't usually. Then you have those that go absolutely nuts and pile up the plate with everything they can fit on it. In this sense, if you watch a lot of anime using CR then you are like the latter, but most users will have little bits here and there.

I believe so. even buying dvd's don't help that much... probably half the costs of the dvd go to the promoters etc.

it's about the collective... if more people do it, then it will help significantly.

What a silly question. Of course it helps. If everybody had the same mentality as you then anime here in the States would be screwed.

I helps the industry financially and I think it also coerces anime into the digital market.

Individually, it's more profitable for CR for a viewer to pay for a subcription.
But as a percentage of total income, CR gets more revenue from people that don't have a subscription - because so many many people just don't want to pay for a sub; or can't.

For internet, ad revenue is based off number of views.
You are thinking of the old TV formula, where a ad agency pays a bit wad of cash lump sum for a block of ads.

it says here on the site at least that this helps supporting them because licenses are very expensive im sure they need every cent they can get their hands on.

There was a segment on NHK World yesterday about how the aging population of Japan has caused lowered sales of anime and manga, and one of the guys from Crunchy was interviewed, as Crunchy was focused on as one of the global partners which are helping to offset the lowered sales of anime and manga and transition the distribution, production, and sales of anime and manga onto a global stage, and not just one focused on the domestic market.

So yes, your membership is very important, and so is the help of everyone who doesn't use Ad Blocker on the site if they are a free member. Because it's not only your membership dollars or the revenue earned from the ads, but it's that data Crunchy collects about viewer and member numbers which helps them determine what strategic partnerships to make as well as just what shows to get for us, and in turn the makers of anime and manga can take that data and adapt to a rapidly changing market.

I like to see that I'm not the only one who refuses to use adblock.

I prefer buying DVDs as I'm someone who likes to own physical copies of things.
