25 episodes, or 100+?

Which anime do you typically prefer or seek out?

When I was younger, I used to go strictly for the 100+ episode shounen stuff. Over a summer vacation or whatever, I could watch a show at my leisure and feel like I'd never catch up. Of course, I would, but since I'd just gotten into anime at the time, I'd have another whole adventure to look forward to, with dozens of new characters to learn about and love.

Now, however, I'm liking shorter anime, even as short as 12 episodes, that I can digest in a single weekend. Of course, with single seasons, it sucks when it's only a very small taste of a manga that's much longer, though some shows wrap up nicely. Death Note, Kill La Kill, and Madoka Magica, to name a few. But even when there is material that hasn't been animated yet, sometimes the stuff that is there looks amazing and is entertaining enough to leave me satisfied.

Naturally, if I like a show enough, short or long, I'll seek out the manga and catch up.
But what are your preferences?

Edit: Topic should say 25 episodes. My finger slipped...

Edit: I fixed it for you! Know it says 25 -awc
(Thank you!)

Pacing is more important than anything to me, so I guess that has me gravitating towards the shorter stuff because it's almost always better paced.

It depends. A lot of shorter animes will have very dissatisfying endings as they will just be cut off from wherever they end in the original LN or Manga storyline. And that feeling of dissatisfaction can really drive me up a creek. But longer animes can drag on like many tv shows do and outstay their welcome.

So I pretty much watch both and hope I get lucky with a good ending when the ending comes around.

Both. I'm not picky, though I admittedly find that the longer ones can be a hassle to keep up with. Therefore, I tend to take my sweet time and wait for a longer anime to end, and then watch the episodes in increments.

Also, when I wait until after a long series ends, I can easily look online and find out which episodes are filler, so that I can go ahead and skip them.

Meh, i like the short 26 episode animes just because i typically find so much filler in 100+ animes that i might die from anxiety!

26 episode animes are much better. I can do my s1k method of watching completed shows by watching from the last episode to the first.

2 cour for me, but I don't really care. Looks attractive, I'll watch it. My preferred ones usually last only about 2-4 cours tho.

I'm in two minds about this. I don't mind a 12-25 episode anime as long as it has a satisfying ending. However, I really do like an extended story

Longer stories tend to meander, so I generally prefer the shorter ones. That's not to say that long series can't be done well (Monster comes to mind), but with a shorter run time, the story is usually more concise and well-constructed. Because the manga industry is what it is (if Bakuman is to be trusted anyway), and popular series are pressured to keep running for as long as they can, the story will usually just naturally lose its direction after a while, as the author tries to keep adding to their original idea. It's just like the sequel deterioration we often see with movies here in the West: it's economically sound, but often makes for a less enjoyable piece. Basically, each anime should be as long as the plot calls for, and it just so happens that most of the time, when you see a really long one, it's because it's been stretched out to cash in on its popularity.

Like Nisekoi, I was surpirsed they stopped at 20 episodes, I thought they would at least go to 24 or 25 but I didn't read the manga so I don't know how it is..Anyway I like a long ones with 100+ simply because they're good. If they weren't they wouldn't sell very well and there wouldn't be that many episodes. Also, you can always skip fillers...unless your watching it as it becomes available. However, I also like short 12-13 episodes too. well....I just love anime ...so I don't mind long or short.

I usually go for the 12/13 episode series. I just like to keep experiencing something new and different.

I actually wish there were more 1 - 2 hour anime movies.

I definitely agree with you! I recently watched Little Witch Academia and loved it! It was pretty short and I wish it were longer! Well, I'm glad there is a sequel coming out!

It just depends on the anime, Hunter x Hunter was all I spent my free time on for a week until I caught up. Many anime I love such as The Mystic Archives of Dantalian or Gosick I would LOOOOOOOOOOOVE to have 100+ episodes of. Basically if I like it I want more. But I won't not watch something just because it is shorter.

I've liked the long anime, but I'd prefer a hiatus than killing my anime buzz with fillers. I personally like the 26 episode anime as it's just enough to do everything that needs to be done without feeling drawn out.

But then, with work and limited time to watch I kind of hope they don't have too many 26 episode seasons either. I don't like the idea of limiting what I watch because a few anime stretch into the next season. There's just too much to watch and don't have the time.

Recently, due to school and work, I currently prefer a 25-episode series over a 100+ one. Honestly, I find shorter series to have easy a to a comprehend story than the longer one, for there are less fillers that may become digressive from the storyline.
