The best series go for 25 to 50 episodes.

A 13 episode season isn't enough to do a story justice, but any more than 50 episodes in a series tends to run out of steam and the producers bring in filler to stretch it out.

Here are the length of anime episodes I like to watch;

Sometimes I'll enjoy an anime series 3-13 episodes long if it's good.

24-26

26-50

50-100

100 and up.

I like both.

Long shows:
+ gives me a chance to connect with the world deeply, gives me something to look forward to, epic is usually... epic.
- some episodes may be dragged out/fillers, jokes and phrases get recycled, when it finish I get a little upset

Short shows:
+ no time for fillers, it's short and sweet, meaningful story
- when they finish, I crave for more

I enjoy watching short animes because they're usually far better paced, and big plus if they have satisfying endings that I'll feel good about. However, I wish some of them were a little longer because I don't want them to end so soon at the same time. ;_;.

On the flip side of that, I hate when animes drag on for too long (f@$king Naruto, can't watch Naruto). Im good with medium lengthed animes. Not too short, not too long.

Personally I really don't like longer animes. It because they tend to linger on and way to many filler episodes. I generally love animes that can tell their story in 13-25 episodes.

I used to hate really long shows, hated the fact we got clip shows, filler eps and the dreaded repeat scenes.

Due to the belief i had that it was the same for all long running shows, i never touched them which is ironic since they are now the ones i enjoy for their detailed stories and creative plot twists.

I now accept it however long it is, just for longer shows to split it up long runs with other shows or a movie. Stops you getting bored in my view.
I also believe it's the quality of story over the number of eps.

It usually depends on the show and whether or not there is the source material to adapt 100+. But for the most part, I prefer 26. I hate having to sit through fillers that don't add much to the show, which is what 100+ shows tend to do. Not to mention, I am less likely to buy something with 100+ given that I have to watch what my spending. If more episodes are needed, there can always be a sequel, and most shows can be told with 52 episodes or less.

Out of them all I prefer 24 to 26 episodes, also.

I don't mind 12 episode series as long as there is a satisfying ending. Too often, they are based off of manga that is wanting to go for a while so doesn't really have a ending at that time. So, this makes for a very dissatisfying ending in the anime for me.

Also, I dislike when the anime is based off manga that does not have many chapters. This tends to have the anime end at 12'ish episodes and then you never see a sequel. Since you would have to wait 2 or 3 years for enough source material to have that sequel but by that time they don't make the sequel for whatever reason. So the ending just ends up being 'blah' to me.

I prefer the anime's made off either LN's or long running manga. That way there is an increased chance either for 25 episodes for the first season or a much greater chance for multiple seasons.

I prefer longer anime. Gives me more time to connect to the characters and get used to the world in it.

26 episodes is best. I don't mind longer, as long as the pacing is consistent and there's no filler. but seriously.. 100+ episodes is just a chore to go through if you haven't been keeping up with them weekly.
