My preference is for shorter anime, somewhere in the 12 - 26 episode range. I find the longer anime tend to devolve into monster of the week with some filler put in to give you a break. There are exceptions with longer anime. I really enjoyed Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and A Certain Magical Index (if you count the different seasons and Railgun seasons as part of the anime). Fullmetal Alchemist told a good story that took all of it's episodes to tell, and well A Certain Magical Index is just fun to watch.

Depends on the anime but if it's 100+ I tend to get bored of it.

If done right, a long one can give so much depth to the world and the characters. But sadly many of them are hurt with bad pacing and filler.

Both aren't bad, however, I'd typically favor the 12-26 episode option. 100+ episodes are okay, but I find it a real pain trying to catch up. Quite often I'd struggle and find it boring as I watch more than 100 episodes. I mean I definitely had trouble catching up to One Piece. Even to this day I have not caught up yet. I'm still in the middle of the Fishman Island fight. I am literally at the part where Luffy and that guy (wow, it's been so long I actually forgot the name of the main antagonist in that arc ) are still fighting.

I would prefer 25 episodes for better series that stop at 12. A good series should go as long as they can. DBZ was good at that keeping the story interesting. Most anime in the world doesnt deserve more than 12.

The consensus seems to be, "25 episodes, unless it has a dissatisfying ending," and "100+ episodes, unless it starts going sour."

I do like both as well, though I have fallen out of love with pretty much all the big ones. I grew up watching DBZ, so that was my jumping off point. I loved Bleach and Naruto, but now I basically keep up with them because "I've come this far, so I may as well see how they end." One Piece is in a weird place because there are BIG, obvious things coming, so it's keeping me intrigued even though it's dragging right now.

Depends on the series.

My most recent favorite Anime, Silver Spoon, is only 22 episodes total and that works perfectly for it.
While my oldest favorite Anime, Rurouni Kenshin, has 60 episodes (that matter), Along with FMA:Brotherhood which is around the 60 mark.
Though I have to admit, once you get into the multiple hundreds, things get iffy. I only watch Naruto because I started it when it came out, and I can't get into One Peace.

For me it's the 12 - 26 episode range, although there are some 100+ episode anime like DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gintama, and HxH that pull it off.

Hmmm well if there was to be a new series of 100+ episodes and the characters and plot is good then sure I will watch it, but like One Piece, Bleach,Naruto, etc... those that already came out and I sort of know the gist of it, I just don't watch them. (I use to watch pieces of episodes of Bleach and Naruto when my siblings watched them so I know them and One Piece use to be on TV? yea so um yea)

So yea, I am open to anything new that is good and suit my taste.

Why do they have to be 12-13 OR 25-26 episodes? Quite a few of the anime I have watched have had 50 or so episodes and this seems like an almost perfect number for most story lines in my opinion. It doesn't feel super rushed this way, while at the same time not being super drawn out like some other shows.

It doesn't matter as long as the series is good. I mean obviously i have seen more shorter anime's with episodes between 12-26. However that does not make a long 100+ anime bad, i mean look at one piece, Naruto, yuyu hakusho, inuyasha, etc. Either way they both are great and i enjoy both types.

Id go for under 100 but over 25 like Soul Eater. The only one i've liked that's gotten close to 100 episodes was Rurouni Kenshin.
