Which anime do you typically prefer or seek out?

When I was younger, I used to go strictly for the 100+ episode shounen stuff. Over a summer vacation or whatever, I could watch a show at my leisure and feel like I'd never catch up. Of course, I would, but since I'd just gotten into anime at the time, I'd have another whole adventure to look forward to, with dozens of new characters to learn about and love.

Now, however, I'm liking shorter anime, even as short as 12 episodes, that I can digest in a single weekend. Of course, with single seasons, it sucks when it's only a very small taste of a manga that's much longer, though some shows wrap up nicely. Death Note, Kill La Kill, and Madoka Magica, to name a few. But even when there is material that hasn't been animated yet, sometimes the stuff that is there looks amazing and is entertaining enough to leave me satisfied.

Naturally, if I like a show enough, short or long, I'll seek out the manga and catch up.
But what are your preferences?

Edit: Topic should say 25 episodes. My finger slipped...

lol i seriously did exactly what you described in your post: i used up my whole summer to catch up to ALL 300 + (or was it 400+?) episodes of One Piece. That is also exactly why i like short and sweet anime. After i realized i spent my whole summer watching one piece and nothing else, then the depression and 'omg i totally spent my summer catching up to this anime' feeling settled in.

It really all depends on the anime if it's okay like i like it enough to keep watching past the first episode then i am fine if it's short but if it's like first episode it grabs my attention enough for me to drop my fanfiction and give it all my attention then i would like it to be long

I would say longer ones because every time I watch a 26 episode anime I want it to last longer.

Depends on the source material. I like shorter anime in general. I'll take a 13, 26 or even a movie over a 50+ anytime. But I do like my longer series. Especially newer adaptations like Hunter x Hunter and Fullmetal Alchemist. I would also take a 200 episode Psycho-Pass series.

Quality over quantity, though I've seen some amazing "longer" shows. I guess it all depends. Does the long show entertain me? And if so can I marathon it?

Both. I'm not picky, though I admittedly find that the longer ones can be a hassle to keep up with. Therefore, I tend to take my sweet time and wait for a longer anime to end, and then watch the episodes in increments.

Also, when I wait until after a long series ends, I can easily look online and find out which episodes are filler, so that I can go ahead and skip them.

^Pretty much sums it up for me^ Though if I'm enjoying the anime I'll think about whether or not I will skip the fillers.

Well it looks like a couple of the 12 show spring season are getting complaints of how they left material out and rush things.

Yes some can be 12 but a lot cant with all the LN , manga, arcs invovled!

Another trend shows start in the middle of a story when there was so much to start with!

Some examples

Black Bullet

Coffin Princess

As long as it's a series I can enjoy, I'll enjoy it regardless of whether it's 13 episodes or 150+ episodes.

Now, sometimes I wish there's more when there are only 13 episodes, but that's kind of out of my control.

Anime~ what can you do.

24-26 is my preference. 100+ feels too dragged out with plenty of filler.

I actually avoid the longer animes I really love the shorter ones but I do with they could last forever. The longer ones just seem to large to digest and I don't have that kind of free time.

Tackling a 100+ behemoth just doesn't seem reasonable to me (for no real reason either, haha). I think I prefer the single seasons just because I can get a definitive resolution. Yet, I also hate that bittersweet reality that is an ending to a good time. Instead, I've come to just not pay attention to length and enjoy whatever I can. That's the point anyway, as far as I care at least.

I really wish the new Sailor Moon anime is 100+ episodes not 25. However, there are plenty of 25 episode anime I love to watch!
