If you are going to call yourself a writer, Bless, learn to take criticism, even if it is derisive, sneering, and juvenile.

I think I took it pretty well, for being what it was, which was not criticism, but outright attacks on me and my ability to write. That's something entirely different than valid criticism of my points. Why would I take someone who asks something like "are you writing animal speech?" seriously? Like...how else should I respond to that besides with a joke? I can't learn or improve in any constructive way from that comment or any comment that ranted about how "I consider myself a writer."

I thought this was a pretty good-natured attack on the show, one that pointed out flaws I saw in it with some spunk and a little bit of sassiness, but stopped far, far short from being polemic or actively insulting anyone who liked the show.

In other words, you are stating they took only a superficial reading of your work, needlessly focused only on perceived negatives, and rounded it all out with rather heaping amounts of unfounded vitriol?

Back to their critique and not yours of Mahouka, there was much worthwhile critique in the post you chose to single out from amongst all the others, and several which offered valid critique with little to no fluff beyond critique. At the very least, the fact that there were several areas of discontent shared by those who gave feed back would warrant at least addressing those concerns, or at least acknowledging there may be some merit and the feedback isn't simple trolling.

If you acknowledge that what you gave was indeed an attack on the show, can you seriously find fault with those who question the title "critic" you chose? As I said previously, it is a question of authority: if a critic is not seen as fair, then they forfeit, in the view of their audience, the authority that such a title confers.

Analysis without control is commentary, critique without elegance is gossip .
