Cowboy Bepop is widely regarded as some of the best anime of all time... Yet I've tried watching it three times, and I always drop it right around when a certain someone goes through a window. I don't know what it is, but I just can't quite get into it.

So, I'm going to try to watch it through this weekend.

Please fill the comments with reasons why it's awesome, and I'll do my best to join in later.

I have a feeling you don't like episodic animes, i think episodic animes aren't made for you to go on a weekend marathon and burn through a bunch of them in a row, i'm re-watching Bebop and i just watch 1-2 episodes every 2 days since i don't need to remember anything important in the storyline, i just enjoy the episode and move on, maybe you should look at it this way.

I dunno, man. Cowboy Bebop isn't really my type of anime either and I still loved it (I tend to be more into the slice-of-life and romcom stuffs). After however many episodes, you start really learning who some of these characters are. Layers are peeled back and personalities are exposed. I think I ended up enjoying Faye the most. Faye and Jet.

I guess give the movie a try first? It's not going to give you all the character development I'm talking about, but it's a good, short burst of Cowboy Bebop if you'd like to try a snack first.

I don't recall this specific event, but if it's before episodes 5-6 that's when the series is generally recognized as coming into its own. I'd suggest making it that far in if you haven't, if you have and still felt nothing I'm not sure what to add.

The episodes are Ballad of Fallen Angels and Sympathy for the Devil.

I'm not really answering your query with this, but I'm not sure how to word what I think about it really. The first couple episodes are a bit meh but overall I thought it was excellent. I'd have to watch it again probably to describe why, though.

A lot of it would be Spike's character arc, especially what's shown in flashbacks, and his juxtaposition with Vicious. It's like every episode gives you an extra piece of a puzzle about Spike's character, which makes the ending very powerful.

Well I loved Samurai Champloo which is created by the same guy (I think )

If you get a chance see if you enjoy that instead. IMO I prefer it over Cowboy Beebop, but everyone else thinks Beebop is WAY better. I don't really get it (they're two completely different stories, why are they even being compared?)

Hm. That is a shame. The anime is pretty solid. A little surprising you got up to Ballad of Fallen Angels and then stop. That is when things get really good, and we start to learn more about the characters. Most of the episodes after that, while mostly episodic, contain a lot more character detail.

To each his own, it's still more colorful than some generic anime we got nowadays.

cowboy bebop was one of my first anime series i watched on adult swim as a teenager back then there was no crunchyroll to watch my beloved subbed anime now. I enjoyed Bebop very much its one of those shows you either hate it or love it i remember trying to sing along to the ending theme in japanese and i love just how silly or serious the series can be at times it truly is a classic anime in its own class that deserves all the fans its gotten and hopefully it'll get the same treatment sailor moon and DBZ got when its 20th or 25th anniversary comes along.

You didn't need to do that to yourself.
