My comment about forcing oneself to watch anime goes out to anyone, not just the OP. You are forcing yourself, in one way or another, to try and watch it- having reasons, but forcing yourself nevertheless. It seems almost like you're approaching this as a video game: "I need to achieve XYZ in this level, find out who the boss is, then get to the next level [episode]"

It's not a 'story arc' series. It's about the adventures of these five very unusual people whose lives intersect and they all have a common thread running through it- there are only really five episodes out of the total 26- that are actually about Spike's story of leaving the Red Dragons and his fight with Vicious. Why does the show need to only be about that? They go on adventures which are wild fun, they're both funny and entertaining. You aren't even enjoying the stuff that's happening, the animation, or the 'lesson' in each episode? You're just saying "It seems like it builds up and stops after 22 minutes" as if just analyzing some PLOT idea... who is "the bad guy" and "did we reach the next level" like in a video game mentality.
Just sit back and let yourself be entertained.
If that's such a chore- then really just drop it.

Have you watched the movie yet? I didn't really love the show, but the movie was certainly worth watching. It felt like a strong episode within the series and it being longer allowed the story to be fleshed out a little more.

That is no mere anime that a simpleton can enjoy, that's for sure.

Well then. This thread just took a turn for the pretentious.

Just because something is famous or known as being legendary, doesn't mean you HAVE to like it you know. You can try it out of course, but you don't HAVE to watch it. You shouldn't feel forced to watch something just because it it highly regarded amongst fans (many of whom will just say they like a series for pretentious reasons).

I love Cowboy Bebop, and it is known as a classic in anime.

I hate Wuthering Heights, and it is known as a classic in literature.

Just watch what YOU LIKE.

If you don't like it, don't watch it. I happen to like it, but that's no reason for you to feel obligated to watch it.
After all, I'm one of the 3 people that HATES Evangelion.

If you don´t like Cowboy Bebop from the very start of the show I don´t think you will ever like it.

Ofourse the show gets more intense after awhile like any other show but the style and the feel never changes, so if you had tried it three times before you wont like it a fourth time probably.

I´m a huge Bebop fan and I loved it from start to finish.

I feel the same way; personally can't get into it.

Personally prefer the another classic, aka Trigun. If we're talking about classics from a similar time period.

It's because it's not that good. I didn't like it either.
