Depends how ignorant they are, what benefits they bring me, and whether or not they're tolerable

Actually there has been research why otherwise intelligent individuals fail at solving such easy word problems like the one given by the OP.

Apparently smart people are actually more prone to making such mistakes, at least according to the research.

Not gonna lie. I got it wrong, too. People can call me stupid for it if they wish, but I'm sure I wasn't the first person in this thread it happened to. I shortcut the math in my head and sometimes tend to overlook the simple things by either overthinking something or not giving it the respect I probably should. Personally, I don't think that makes me dumb, I just think it makes me prone to mistakes sometimes. Embarrassing mistakes, but still mistakes. I fess up to them, learn from them, and try not to let the ridicule affect me all that much.

Doesn't really apply to modern civilization.

The thing with evolution is that it's not just about survival and genes, it also involves building niches and culture-e.g. animal mating rituals and beaver dams.

Natural selection technically applies to us but because we're so extreme, we fail to resemble anything else.

He was talking survival and genes, not evolution.

"Technically" natural selection still applies to us, but it's no longer tightly linked to basic survival and reproduction.

Sometimes they're funny, but the majority of the time they're pretty hard to talk to without getting frustrated at them.

Is natural selection and evolution not conjoined? It's a mistake to think that natural selection can only be broken down to just survival and genes as biology has has taught us.

Anyone can agree that nobody's really struggling to live and reproduce these days though-most!

Yes, natural selection is a part of evolution.

It is also its own subject, and, as such, can be discussed separately when brought up wholly outside of the topic of evolution.
