Ive really been struggling to bring myself to watch a certain type of anime, namely the card game sort, although i sometimes feel like I'm missing out on some really good work, I just cant get past the metal barrier and watch one of these shows.

Does anyone feel the same?

I started feeling this way 2 years ago with Zexal. I still think I can watch them if I don't have anything else to watch.

Eh everyone has different tastes and likes.

I personally never got into the card game anime. Tried, just got bored.

But yeah all comes down to tastes and preferences, and that being your personal ones, not the general consensus of your age or gender.

According to the general consensus of my age and gender I should only like action packed thrillers full of blood, guts, and gore, endless fighting, some super stacked chick (or ten) that the main male has wrapped around his finger.

Meanwhile my favorite genre is actually Romance, usually the cheesier or more predictable the better.

Perhaps the time has come, then, for you to watch Wixoss, Vallant?

It probably helps if you actually try (or even like) to play the card game IRL. When Pokemon cards first came to the states, my (then pretty young) kids were into collecting and playing that, so I got a bit interested at first to try to figure out the logic, (maybe only because I was the one paying for the booster packs). But the novelty quickly wore off for me (and them, eventually) and now it is difficult for me to get interested in that genre.

The first season of Digimon wasn't too bad, but then again, it wasn't much about the cards. It was tough to stay interested in the juvenile characters though; I find it difficult to relate to them.

Yu-Gi-oh was too much about the cards to interest me and as you say, the rest of that genre just seems too targeted to younger viewers.

I tried to watch Majin Bone this season, thinking the age of the characters would help, but I still lost interest in that, too.

I don't think it is just only age-related characters causing the problem though... I loved non-non Biyori, a recent slice of life that had nothing to do with cards.

Wixoss, on the other hand did kind of grow on me this season, but only because of the dark impact of the story being told about the characters, not because the gameplay itself, the rules of which aren't really emphasized that much.

But overall, I think I fall into that "too old for card shows" demographic, too...

being entertained by something does not have an age requirement, same with not finding it enjoying. all up to your personal tastes

We're the same age.
I don't feel like watching those kind of anime at all. I have a friend though who is like 24 I think, he's currently watching Cardfight Vanguard, trying to figure out how to play the game by watching the anime :P

I watched Yu Gi Oh back in juniorhigh, and I remember what it was like, maybe why I can't be bothered to watch them now

You're only "too old" if you feel like you're too old. If some is telling you that just ignore them, it's not their place to be telling you what you are and aren't too old for. :)

I can never get into card game anime... I tried Wixoss for a while and its kinda interesting, and other other one that had doll in the name that I cant think of (it's on CR). I don't thing I am too old for them, it just doesn't keep my attention like other stuff does.

Been watching Card Game series or over a decade now and still not bored with it. Right now, I have been following the latest Yugioh V and Cardfight Vanguard (season 5, 6, 7) to come in the future.

So nope.

There's no such thing as being too old for something no matter what anyone says.
If you're not too interested then that all lies in your tastes.

I don't think your age should stop you from checking it out IF you're interested in it
