But what is the general consensus about this sort of theme, are they usually aimed at younger audiences or are there any card game anime that has a more adult/mature nature to them?

I think card game anime are aimed at younger teenagers and pre-teens, not necessarily young adults.

I don't think so if you are interested into card games in real life.

I would say quite a few card game shows are aimed at younger audiences, but that sort of thing really doesn't matter - especially if you're into the card game itself. Some of them are kind of like classics now, anyway. I'm tempted to watch a few for better knowledge on the culture However, as of right now, I've only ever watched one card game show, and that's Wixoss.

If you want a more mature card game anime, i'd say Wixoss is right up your alley. The fact that the cast is predominately female might be uncofortable, but I think the audience is probably made up mostly of young adult males. Plus its the best of the season, anyway.

You all should be watching it -_-

lol, just kidding. Seriously though, I really like that show.

Just gonna say what most people say: age shouldn't be a factor for things you like (within some reasonable limits). Do you like card games IRL?

Even if you do like card games, there's nothing wrong with not liking the other media. I love Pokemon video games, but can't stand the anime, and I don't like the TCG. A million years ago when Magic was first released, I tried to get into it, even picking up one of the video games, but the whole card game thing just never worked.

And yea, as you get older, your tastes will change, but there's nothing wrong with that either. Again just for comparison, 25 years ago, if someone told me (an 80s metalhead) that if I was going to be watching Love Live! or WUG! or Sonico, I'd have given them what-for.

No, not straight-up too old for them. Too old to identify very well with the characters and plot, and/or too accustomed to more mature shows to do so? Possibly. That wouldn't be your fault, though, since card game anime are usually made to specifically cater to young(er) audiences. Everything from the plot to the characters' personalities, to the levels of violence and sexuality, give away who these are aimed at.

I'm more than willing to watch them, regardless of my age; however, not being able to identify well with them, due to who the target audiences are (I'm not familiar with any exceptions), can make it difficult to connect with and immerse myself in the shows.
