How come as a non premium user I can access crunchyroll on my computer and Iphone via wifi and watch videos with advertisements playing but my xbox360 requires me to be a premium member to use it? Doesn't make since. I do have an xbox live gold membership. Are they going to change this eventually?

because you get what you pay for. What would be incentive to subscribe if you got all of our benefits for free?

Paid memberships give more perks, such as access to more devices to stream from, as Azazel said. Also CR and all media streaming apps no longer require XBL Gold for use (notice the banner across every page).

I'm not sure if its even possible to have commercial break ads run on XBL videos.

XBOX has issues with episodes skipping so it's not like you're really missing out.

The Hulu Plus, and new Funimation, apps certainly allow commercials to be inserted into video streams. As someone already pointed out, certain apps are restricted to Premium members as a benefit of subscribing.

I get what y'all are saying. Just seems a little silly to me. If anything I can just hook my comp up to my tv and then I don't need an xbox

That is true, but you get a higher quality picture out of a premium membership too. If your TV screen is big, it may end up looking pretty bad running it through your PC.

I like to think of the premium membership as supporting an art form I love and getting a few perks (better quality and can watch on my TV) on the side. Also, the more people with subscriptions, the more viable it looks to the Japanese publishers and the more willing they are to give us more

At least it's no more Gold on xbox . I believe Funimation will not let you see any of the episodes without Gold either . I have a 1 month free from Bing & it allows 2 episodes free with ads(even MA titles) .

According to Funi's FAQ, you don't need Gold to watch videos (like all Xbox entertainment apps), but you do need an EVS subscription to watch more than 2-4 videos from a series.

I wonder if that includes the MA rated titles ? It's strange on the Roku , it won't let you view them (MA) w/o a premium membership.

It sure does! Not sure why it wouldn't. Hulu is a good example of an app that works this way.

Speaking of Hulu, that's another service that you have to pay for to use on devices like the Xbox.

I've never used Hulu beyond PC, so I've never tried it on the XBOX. Even paid there's still some ads.

Yeah, that's why I'm saying there are ads on everything else you use it on, too, including Xbox. But in order to watch it on those things, you need a paid subscription like Crunchyroll. Trying to be informative, is all!
