You're in a horrible accident and you have to either become a full body Cyborg or die. Which do you choose?

The Cyborg technology in this scenario is advanced enough to make you look completely human with synthetic skin, as well as creating new erogenous zones.

Well this is a hard thing to do because once you die, youre not really sure where you go next. The problem about becoming full machine is that you will outlive the people that you really care about and love. Can you watch them die, when you dont age even a year?

Is it safe to assume that I will have the same degree of independence as I do now? That there won't be some self-destruct mechanism to threaten me with, or a chip designed to force me to obey Asimov's three laws, or an "off" switch to put me into temporary or permanent stasis, or anything else that might be included as part of becoming a cyborg for the purpose of controlling me?

Is it also safe to assume that, legally speaking, I'm still the same person I was before? Will I retain the right to vote, the right to hold office, the right to a fair trial by a jury of my peers, the right to protection from unwarranted search/seizure, the right of habeas corpus, and so forth? Or would I be, from a legal standpoint, effectively a machine with either limited rights or no rights whatsoever?

I'd seriously consider it if both of those assumptions held.

Of course, assuming unlimited freedom on what my new body would look like.
Basically I want my body to be exactly like Henrietta's from Gunslinger Girl.

I could use the extra erogenous zones, You can never have too many.

I always think about these scenarios. If I were to be in an accident and 90% of my body is dead... I would rather be dead. why keep me alive with just a functioning brain?

I don't get it.

Receiving the new body would mean that you were no longer human right? Dealing with the prospect of mortality is kind of one of the big influences to our decisions as humans. I think losing that sense of fear would make you less able to relate to regular humans. Then again if you had trouble relating to other humans before the accident, I guess there wouldn't be much of a change. I would probably stay a human unless I had something that absolutely needed to be done.

Hell yeah! I don't see the side effects in doing so.
