People overshare when they put their real names out there together with their town.

With that information pretty much anyone could track you down.

I don't use my real name in social media, and I avoid disclosing where I live.

Especially if you're someone who has a name that is not fairly common and has a pretty unique spelling.

I think CR is the only thing I'm using consistently atm. I only got a Tumblr for one of my art classes, and I haven't used it much since then. I've been thinking about getting a FB only because some of the people I know don't use email too much. I don't see the point of Twitter. I use YouTube all the time to watch AMVs and new videos from my favorite artists. I think that's about it.

It helps kill time, socialize easier, plan things with friends for the day, express opinions and thoughts on different topics, and also show interesting picture or videos to friends or even strangers. I use CR, Pheed, Instagram, YouTube, Kik, and Snapchat daily. I have a Twitter and Facebook, but I only use those like once or twice a week. I enjoy it, but I try not get too attached because I need time for anime when I'm not playing basketball or hanging with friends.

well it certainly has its uses.

for example, i use twitter to follow Japanese fan-artists (cuz i'm an extreme fangirl lol), Crunchyroll, the coupon lady, current trending events (i.e. Olympics or FIFA World Cup), etc. I've used Tumblr for all my fandoms to see fanart, fanfics, gifs, & random funny stuff.

so yeah, i'm glad they exist , they make the world a bigger place. ^^ plus more pics of my otps are always a good thing

I use social quite a lot but lately I have been mostly tumblr. I like them and don't mind them at all. I just talk about anime and manga, video games and all that.

I used to use Instagram, but it got to the point where i was literally checking it every..idk...hour or so. It was starting to bug me, so I decided to quit. Another reason why I quit Instagram is because the selfies and the "beautiful!" "goregeous!" comments started to down on my self-esteem and were getting REALLY annoying. The overly-edited pictures also really bothered me. I tried to delete my account, but mean Instagram wouldn't let me because of "your password is incorrect" even though I entered the correct password!!

I use Blingee and Crunchyroll mostly now.

Social media has it's place. I've never taken to Facebook twitter or Instagram or even Pinterest. I prefer to be more select choosing limited hobby related sites. That's as much as I can take. I don't have to know what my extended family, friends, old friends, acquaintances old and new are doing or thinking every single hour. Those I wish to really see I'll make the effort to keep communications open and meet up with them. Others I can do without.

Tumblr is a total cesspool that was once interesting but has now become overrun with social justice wussies and their "you can't say that, it's offensive!" crap.

Majority of social media sites are "meh."

I'd say tumblr is a site where you need to use the most precaution to assure you don't get caught up in the social justice banter and web of lies. Tumblr can be poisonous and addictive and honestly, it's a pest that I want out of my life except for roleplaying accounts. My personal account received so much flack from people claiming to be social justice warriors. yeah, mental illness faking special snowflake teenagers who have no idea what actual mental illness is like. see every fucking interaction i've had with a female social justice warrior ever.
"Agender" is so fucking transtrender false and an insult to actual trans people... and "mentally ill" transtrenders are insults to actual people with borderline personality, and dissociative identity disorder. i have the former and it fucking disgusts me that these people think it is 'cool' to have mental problems. No. It is fucking not. Stop right there.

Twitter is full of drooling idiots, compared to other sites. An overabundance of unironic hashtags and a plethora of misspelled celebrity crap and wannabe fame whores. There is also a echelon of special snowflakers here as well, typing like mangled, braindead five year olds who just used a desktop keyboard for the first time. Actually, five year olds could probably type better than them. They claim it's all dyslexia or some bullshit, but of course, like everything else the special snowflakes spout, it's either an outright fabrication or lie.

Facebook is boring and droll and mainly used by middle agers.

Instagram is the only one i keep using mainly for good pictures of myself, i.e. selfies.

Vine is good for looking at other people's short little viddies but as someone who sucks at short videoing it is not my place to hang out at all. I am not a good spontaneous video producer, let's leave it at that.

4chan is fucking imbicilic and should be banned entirely; with the exception of a few boards. /b/ especially deserves a banning. the frequenters of that board have a special spot in hell reserved for them!

CR is probably best form of social media for me IMHO right now. The forums are kind, well managed, and not filled to the brim with lunatics.

Since everywhere else I go, i seem to slam into the worst of the lunatics....

I do like this graphic.
I has a feeling that me in the olden days would've been very anti-Puritan....
Such blasphemy from the conservatives and special snowflakes from the world.....
I think it's quite funny that social justice warriors are abhorring the usage of words like crazy, insane, etc. I've got my share of mental upset, and I use those adjectives constantly to describe myself. They're literally condemning the usage of the English language. Wow, what intelligent, bright bulbs we have here... no wonder their vocabularies are so poor.... every other word that comes their way is "offensive!" or "ableist!". Well, at the end of the day, it is their ninny arses that refuse to communicate normally. As far as I'm concerned, so long as they are forever ignorant and uneducated, nobody will listen to them, except for naive and easily swindled children with no identity of their own....

I wish the social justice trend would diminish, but it keeps inflating.... I really hope in the next few years, it dies painfully..... and never resurrects.... this generation is already egocentric enough as is, I don't need some zie/zir agender whiners worsening what is already an embarrassing Generation Z.... as far as I am concerned, as a 96' kid... I would like to apply for borderline Gen Y territory, so that I don't have to be associated with these five year olds who have somehow manifested in the body of a sixteen year old....

I made a Facebook in October of 2009, and by February of 2013 permanently deactivated it. I haven't had one since. Topped out at about 250 friends, all of them I knew personally, and I just grew tired of it honestly.

I do have a Twitter, but not my real name, and it's more or less a random page of retweets and I use it to follow public figures, namely J-Pop and K-Pop idols. (helps my foreign reading too)

I have an Instagram with my artwork. I made an IG a while ago for this girl who I was quite serious for, and after we parted, I just kinda forgot about it. I made a new one because I wanna get my work out there more, for better or worse

I'm not very serious about social media, but I understand it and respect it. It's brought the world closer. I can search anyone and find them, which is crazy. I still remember the supposed anonymity of the yellow phonebook.

I love social media, I get to see just how retarded and screwed up most people are!

And facebook (for me) is to keep in touch with family and close friends.
