What is your take on it? Do you use it or not? What do you use if you do? Why do you think it is that it's blown up in popularity, and what a few reasons are behind its usage by many? If you have any comments on Social Media beyond answers to the questions provided, do tell.

I think it's useful to talk to friends. Especially the ones who don't have a phone. I like to use it to crack jokes as well. But some people (or many) take it way too serious... I think it got popular because it's a different way to talk to people and meet new people. It's easy to see how somebody is that day by checking their recent posts and again with the phone thing, not everybody has a phone. That's really my thoughts on it but to emphasize the seriousness of it. Please don't take it too seriously because people will mess with you and cause conflicts but it should be for fun in my opinion. Social media is also a great way to represent your brand or anything of the sort so take advantage of it.

i absolutely hate facebook, everytime i see my friend's using it it reminds me why i hate it in the first place, people share the dumbest things on the planet, and it's a herd shallow people, and if you're a guy with an instagram account, you need to do some rethinking in your life.
besides that i use Twitter because it's an amazing gateway to interesting articles if you don't use it to follow celebrities.

I do't disagree. I'm very opposed to what the internet has become. For the most part it IS a time waster, and our replacement for actually going out and doing shit/interacting with the real world.

Instead of doing crafts, we curate them on pinterest. instead of writing a story,we share little quotes and phrases. instead of forming opinions, we take sides on subjects and regurgitate talking points. Instead of saying something to the guy across the room, we send them a text message.

Meanwhile, every business objective somehow MUST include a social media or "app" aspect to it regardless of whether or not it fits. Because people (consumers) expect them to. Yet, honestly, I don't see many people finding financial success from it, unless they're a tech company that capitalizes on some inane principle of the internet. (and death to buzzfeed. Dear god. Why haven't the terrorists bombed their home offices!?!?!??!?!?!?)

I think that social media is both a blessing and a curse at the same time. I actually don't commit my life to Facebook, though I use it to keep in contact with my friends. Though, really, it all depends on how you use them.

In total, I use Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. YouTube is where I submit my recent creative fancy (MikuMikuDance videos), and Facebook and Twitter are where I proliferate them, though for the former there are exceptions now and then. If anything, if I make an MMD video featuring Gumi, I will definitely share it on Gumi F***ing Megpoid's page.

MySpace i actually do have no comment for.
It's long dead and its popularity was before my time on social networks.
Only thing I use it for is browsing and downloading old demos from artists who were previously unknown. That place is a goldmine for old demos and alternate takes from singers, stuff they made before they were famous.
