Mappa seems to be up and rising studio as of late.

I saw it earlier on FUNi and it was good. The animation is the best part. It has a somewhat fairy tale feel to it.

Agree, the anime has a very good start and the battle bgm is really good.

As someone that loves the original live action series, THIS IS NOT THE GARO I KNOW! This series feels like a Berserk clone with the GARO armor than a GARO series.

Episode 2

That Mendoza bastard is nothing but pure evil. He accuses the queen of poisoning the king when she would do no such thing, and that leaves the king vulnerable as the queen and the prince are forced out of the kingdom. As for Leon, he's still needs to learn how to control his rage as father is telling him to. This show is really growing on me and I'm liking it. It still has some work left to do, but I'm happy with what I am seeing.

To those unfamiliar with the original GARO, The link above is a music video highlighting the first series.

Pretty neat setup but I think the whole Karas armor thing is dumb.

It's a nice bit of fantasy though so I'll keep up with it.

The original GARO series came out in 2005.

Really good show. The way it depicts its dark fantasy themes as well as its characters is fascinating to watch. The action is well done despite the CGI. Also, I find the addition of alchemists in the latest episode to be an interesting concept.

The horrors are crafted with decent design to show that they are evil too.

Things are definately getting interesting. The characters are interesting, monsters are interesting. And the action is good. Also seemed like the horror in this episode reflected the priest in some ways. His darker side that is.

This show has a great sense of style and of setting.

I have yet to see a character design I didn't like—even the dude sweeping ashes this episode (creepy as heck) was distinctive.

The lady alchemist is the last character in the key visual we hadn't yet met, so I guess we've probably met everyone (Leon, German, & Alfonso). I'm curious to see if Mendoza has motivations beyond just hate, or at least to find out why he hates the Makai Knights. In any case, having all important characters introduced by the end of episode 2 is nice to have. Very much looking forward to seeing where this one goes.

To anybody who is stopping in, not sure if you're interested in this show, I implore you to watch the first two episodes. It's totally cool.

I did, with others that were into the GARO franchise. This is the 6th GARO series, the first animated, and it is by far the worst one.

This sums up our feelings.

Episode 3

There is this tool called the Zaruba that grants tremendous power, but only to seasoned Golden Knights. Marcelo tried to take the power for himself, but he went berserk and had to be slaughtered. Ema sure knows how to pull the strings there. So with that, decision time is looming as to whether or not I will continue with this show, but I guess I'll give it one more episode to see what Alfonso is all about.

Episode 3

Too bad for Marcelo. If he thinks he can obtain power that easily in the Garo world, then he's dead wrong. I'm curious about the true power of Zaruba though as it already has shown great potential.

Ema is an interesting character as well as I wonder what her real motives are.

Now this is quite a sight to see...

I recommended watching the 2005-2006 series.
