Episode 1

Yup, most of the first 20 minutes is more of a deception to cover up the real grim stuff in the background. It was cute seeing the girls' on screen debut. The part with the dog was a bit cheesy though imo.

So yeah, that zombie stuff near the end

I was nice how they weaved the background elements to show the truth as the episode went on. Very well done building up to the reveal at the end.

ep 1

I knew something was up, I was like "isn't this show about zombies, wtf is going on?"

and then I noticed the subtle hints they threw throughout the episode
- don't go outside (or go home in this case)
- one broken window that they walked by that they seemed to ignore
- the desks that blocked off that entryway for some odd reason
- students being outside even though they said don't go out
- the girl carrying the shovel around of course lol

though it was a good take on it when we found out the normal school life setting we saw was all in Yuki's head, that was nice to see

she's in complete denial about everything that is going on and I'm now interested to see how they go about this show and if she will ever learn to accept the reality she is actually in

I feel so bad for those watching this that fell for the trap, because they work really hard to maintain up until the end reveal which by the end was kind of chilling especially the background bells.

I will say that they did make a few changes from the Manga such as adding side characters and the dog and even jumping forward from where the story started in the manga but I didn't mind any of it and actually felt it worked for the story. All four of the main characters and even the dog are all really fun characters to watch interact with each other but also really hard to watch as Kurumi, Yuri, and Miki all worry about Yuki.

But overall I really liked this show, it's probably going to be my favorite of the season. This is going to be a sad show to watch each week.

Episode 1: Beginning

Whoa. I still have chills from that reveal. I mean I saw the hints but damn that reveal was executed perfectly. Seeing the world from one person's point of view then switching to reality was great.

But it starts off giving this CGDCT vibe and the animation is pretty, it is really appealing to the eye. That dog is hilarious and all the characters seem fun.

The OP and ED are fun and most of the episode was basically some MOE stuff until the end where shit just hit the fan. The buildup was done perfect whilst throwing in hints that there is clearly something unusual going on.

Ah really excited to see how this plays out, with Yuki's friends playing along with her fantasy because she can't accept the fact that the world she once knew is gone and how the others feel about the situation. Looking forward to more.

The text on the chalk board...

That was overall nicely executed.

On one hand we got the story with the usual sort of wacky MC and her adventures as all sorts of silly things happen in her special club. Loved by everyone at school a quick adventure with the dog gets us shown around all the place.. and then of course we have the little reveal at the end.. That's completely delusional. She's build a world up around her of a functioning school with all her classmates still alive.

The reality is that the school is in a massive state of disrepair with a few survivors living on the higher levels and running a small garden on top of the roof

Lots of hints too as mentioned. Broken windows, the shovel which was so polished and the talk about trench warfare. But there was also other things. Like how Miki just ignored the classes time and time again unless prompted by the main character to respect them.

The little cross in the garden was another. Or how characters lacked facial features or even colour unless they were either alive or ones that the MC specifically remembered. Her mind frantically trying to maintain some veneer of sanity.

Quite grim and Tragic. Imagine a zombie apocalypse and then having one of your friends basically being insane and acting like everything is normal. It can't be easy.

Going to be interesting to see how this will work out and what direction this will be taken in. But quite liking it so far.

Another great catch for Crunchyroll.

The original manga creator and series composition director are the same here which is interesting as they have made some changes but in this case it seems the author must be in agreement!

Love the manga, love the anime as well. Great adaptation. So looking forward to more!

Well they all seem more mentally strong and coping with it much better than her. Maybe the teacher though.

But ultimately i think events would determine that to see if they crack under the stress or they go into full hero mode when challenged.

So we'll have to wait and see as to where this goes. But i personally hope we might avoid the deeply tragic route.

You forget the view of the grave on the roof.

Yeah that was deceptively well done.

Yeah, don't know how i forgot about that haha.

...I hope that's just a symbol or something for all of their classmates and whatnot dying and there's no actual body in the ground there. That can't be sanitary for growing vegetables near lol

I wouldn't be surprised if a body was buried there considering how the main character is acting. Also burying a body next to a garden wouldn't cause any harm, in fact it might help the garden grow better.

I do hope that the next few episodes are not from the main character's point of view and we get more of a look at what actually has happened to the world.

The only reason I tried this was because I heard "no, wait, it's not what you think!" concerning it. But wow, that was excellent. This has among the highest potential of the season. Depends on where they go with it, but I'm definitely watching this one.

This looks like a cute moe show...

W T F? Those last five minutes. Thought there alot of little details that make you say, something not quite right.. I'm going to keep watching this one.. This could end up being very good or terrible..
They got my attention for now.
