Actually, this depends just about entirely on dialect in the real world, but you are correct that there is an exception of "characters" (be it anime or one you pretend to be) pronouncing just about everything.
The reason I say it isn't completely dependent on dialect is because of speed; you don't have time to pronounce just about every syllable 99% of the time. My caretakers always spoke very fast, my neighbors spoke very fast, and most notably my teachers spoke very fast.
Also, there are many times where syllables are pronounced differently in a word, like you might hear "tu" instead of "tsu." (失礼)
Oops. I was just unconsciously using anime as a common point of reference. Of course real world dialect differences are there too, and I'll always defer to native speakers over my hodgepodge of knowledge.

Speaking of "tsu", that's another sound that is often hard for westerners to hear when used as the first part of a word. Most people don't get farther than "su", missing the subtle t sound at the beginning. You kind of have to pretend you are saying a word or syllable that ends with a t right before su to get it right if you aren't used to it. People tend to pronounce words like say "jutsu" correctly right off the bat because we can interpret it phonetically as "joot-su" even though it it is more precisly "ju-tsu" which sounds the same. I bet there's a lot of Japanese folks that get confused when a newbie westerner tries to say something like "tsuki" and it comes out as "suki".

It really should be noted that the ん does sound more like an "m" sound than an "n" sound when placed in front of syllables beginning with m, b, or p. Which is why "sempai" is actually a legitimate romanization.

What does it matter when I have none... (I don't particularly care either way, but it seems that senpai would be fine.)

I like Sempai more though It sounds cuter............

Ok, I'm gonna get shot at for this. Everyone says senpai.

I looked up the pronunciation of ん, Sempai is technically correct, though Genki says most speakers aren't aware of the different sound values for ん so it probably doesn't matter too much.
