This episode had my Berserk-senses tingling, but it only got about 30% as real as I figured it could have.

That's something I like about this show. It's really fun to watch, and it's certainly not overly serious. Right now, even with sad backstories or quests for vengeance, the story does come across as relatively happy. And I think that's good. This way, if it does ever decide to go dark or emotional, those scenes will really have some impact without the show having to resort to shock value.

I also liked all the angles they were using this episode. It was deliberately disorienting. But (I guess because of Funimation) the colors were too high-contrast. Lights needed to be darker, and shadows brighter.

The show makes gret use of "darkness" overall. The producers treat it as a spice, it's there to enhance the humor and sell the stakes as real but it never overpowers the other aspects of the story.

When you get down to it the world itself is really dark, uncaring gods, demons, an unstoppable apocalyptic evil returning, three rather dark protagonists...

Of the bunch Keiser is the least bad and he's a disgraced kinght who's see his father hanged and lost his mother to suicide. He just looks good because the other two are a cold-blooded killer and an orphaned demoness who's on the path to end the wold just to see her mom.

It could have been sooo easy to go fully grimdark.

Pretty good episode. Loved that it was more Kaisar focused. He's supposed to be the third lead but in the prior episodes he's had more of a supporting role. He was an actual lead this time around.

And now he has an undead loli following him......

A 200 year old one at that.

Whoever made this series is doing some serious witchcraft. There's no way you can make an anime based on a card game app and make it this fantastic without using magic.

Cygames (the company that makes Rage of Bahamut) has the special ability 'unlimited money' which allows them to freely cast money spells.

So Cygames used a money spell on MAPPA to give them a buff called 'massive funding', which is pretty op. Now MAPPA is showing just what huge amounts of money can do to a studio.

But MAPPA also has the spell of "Masao Mayurama", which gives then a +15 buff to animation direction.
